People always take a mile when you give them an inch, and Emma was no exception.

When Finnian had finally agreed to marry Liliana under her threats, she had been ecstatic. She had tasted the sweet victory of controlling him, and now, that was no longer enough. She wanted more.

But Finnian’s voice was ice-cold as he said, word by word, “Listen to me carefully. Marrying Liliana is my absolute limit. I’ve already agreed to it, so don’t you dare try anything else p>

“If you so much as touch Amara, I swear I won’t let you get away with it p>

“Don’t talk about how you’re my mother and I shouldn’t treat you this way. The things you’ve done to me… is that how a normal mother treats her son? You should think about that p>

With that, Finnian got out of the car, slammed the door, and walked away.

It was Emma’s car; he had only been acting as the driver.

As for the fact that Emma couldn’t drive and was now stranded alone outside Liliana’s building, well, she could figure that out for herself.

Through the car window, Emma watched her son’s receding figure, her eyes wide with disbelief, her nails digging deep into her palms.

She had never imagined Finnian would be so uncontrollable. If she had known, she never would have followed Andrew Everly abroad back then.

If she had stayed in the country and spent more time with Finnian, controlling him now would have been child’s play, wouldn’t it?

Finnian hailed a cab and returned to the company headquarters. He sat in his office, resting his head on his hand, his mind racing.

Will entered with a stack of documents and noticed Finnian sitting motionlessly. “Mr. Everly, what are you thinking about?” he asked curiously.

Finnian sat up straight. “I want you to investigate Morgan from the Bishop family p>

Morgan was the Vice President of the Bishop Group. They had no business dealings with the Everly family, nor were they competitors. Why investigate him?

Though puzzled, Will didn’t ask questions. He simply acknowledged the order and left to carry it out.

Will was highly efficient. In just half an hour, a thick file was placed on Finnian’s desk.

It contained Morgan’s entire life story, from his date of birth and elementary school to his hobbies and every detail of his employment history. It was remarkably comprehensive.

Finnian glanced through the file, nodded at Will, and strode out of his office.

“Grandpa, why did you introduce Morgan to Amara? That man is not good enough for her p>

Arriving at the Everly family mansion, Finnian marched straight into Mr. Kevin Everly’s bedroom and made his declaration.

Mr. Kevin Everly was speechless.

So was Lisa, standing nearby.

The old man put down his book, pushed up his reading glasses, and looked Finnian up and down. “Morgan may not be on your level,” he said pointedly, “but he’s still one of Wye’s most distinguished young, talents. What are you talking about p>

“What do you mean ‘only managed to become a vice president at thirty’? Look at all the major corporations in Wye, no, in the entire country. How many people become vice presidents by thirty p>

“Not many! Most people would be lucky to become a VP by the time they’re fifty or sixty. Do you think everyone is like you, capable of handling the chairman’s position at such a young age p>

Mr. Kevin Everly was half-amused, half-exasperated by his grandson.

He had once desperately wished for Finnian to fall for Amara, but Finnian had treated her like she was invisible.
