Chapter 934
Amara couldn’t stand being in the same room with him anymore. Her voice
hardened. “Take your things and leave, Mr. Everly. I’m not eating your food, and I don’t need your money or your equity stake.”
“I have my own two hands. I can make my own living, and I only want to spend the money I earn.”
“I don’t want this child, so there’s no need for any ‘security.”
“That’s all I have to say. Please leave. I have to get back to work.”
With that, Amara grabbed her notebook and pen and walked out, intending to go watch the shooting on set.
But the moment she stepped out, she bumped right into Antonia Everly standing by the door.
Who knew what Antonia was doing lurking out there, but when Amara suddenly emerged, Antonia clearly jumped, looking flushed and angry at being caught.
Amara frowned. What was she doing here?
Had she seen Finnian come in and decided to eavesdrop?
Antonia was a wealthy socialite; she shouldn’t have been stooping to something as tacky as pressing her ear against a door.
But she was definitely waiting for Finnian, and she was probably here on Emma Everly’s orders to spy on them.
The thought irritated Amara to no end.
“What are you doing here?” Amara demanded bluntly. “Do you need something?”
Antonia shot a glare at Amara, then peered past her into the lounge where Finnian was still standing. Her face twisted with indignation.
Judging by Antonia’s expression, anyone who didn’t know better would think she was Finnian’s jealous ex-girlfriend rather than his cousin.
“You’re unbelievable, Amara,”
Antonia spat. “Things have already gotten to this point, and you’re sti clinging to my cousin. What is
wrong with you?”
Amara was already annoyed by Finnian’s uninvited visit. Hearing this just set her off completely.
“Antonia, you don’t just need an eye doctor; you need a psychiatrist. What is your problem? Always coming over here just to stir up drama.”
She stared Antonia down. Antonia bristled defensively. “Are you mocking me,
Amara? What gives you the right to mock me!”
Amara scoffed. “Well, you figured out I was mocking you. Guess you aren’t completely brain-dead after all.”
Calling her ‘not completely brain-dead’ was basically just another way of calling her an idiot. Antonia was furious.
“How dare you speak to me like that?” Antonia seethed. “Was I wrong?”
She looked Amara up and down with a sneer. “If you don’t like my cousin, why did you open the door for him just now?”
“You clearly have feelings for him!
But you want to string Keith along at
the same time. You’re just a
manipulative trapp trying to pl both sides!”
Amara stared at her, genuinely baffled by the sheer absurdity of Antonia’s logic.
When Finnian had shown up, she thought it was Mr. Frost, the director, because they had agreed to meet around this time.
That was why she had opened the door without checking. She never expected Finnian.
And even after seeing him, she hadn’t invited him in—he had forced his way inside. How was that her fault?
Besides, even if she had known it was him and let him in, what did that prove?
Letting someone into a room meant she was in love with them? By that logic, she was in love with half the world! Antonia’s accusations were completely unhinged.
