But when he burst in, he saw that Amara was fine-she wasn’t even drinking. Elysia, however, was all over the man from the last incident. His worry immediately evaporated, replaced by the need to control the chaos. As Dorian and the other man started fighting, he moved to pull them apart.
Normally, Elysia would have had the sense to let Finnian handle it, but she was too furious, too full of hatred for Dorian. She charged forward, trying to separate them herself.

As the two men grappled on the floor between the sofa and the coffee table, an errant elbow sent a glass flying through the air. Elysia was directly in its path. Amara didn’t hesitate. She lunged forward, shielding Elysia with her own body.
With a dull thud, the glass struck Amara’s forehead. She let out a soft cry of pain and crumpled to the ground, clutching her head.

Finnian and Elysia heard the sound and rushed to her side.
Amara’s forehead throbbed. When she pulled her hand away, her palm was smeared with blood.
The sight of the blood pushed Elysia past her breaking point. She grabbed a plastic water bottle from the table and brought it down hard on the heads of the two brawling men. “Both of you, stop it! Amara’s hurt p>
Dorian and Lucian finally broke apart, breathing heavily, their faces already showing signs of the fight. They glared at each other, neither willing to back down. “Ama’s hurt?” Lucian was the first to look away. He went to Amara’s side and saw the small cut on her forehead. “Ama, I’m so sorry p>
“I’m fine,” Amara said with a weak smile. The cut wasn’t deep, just a little painful. But the chaos around her was giving her a headache.
She was about to suggest finding a clinic to get it looked at when the world suddenly tilted. Finnian had appeared beside her and swept her up into his arms.
Amara let out a small gasp of

Finnian ignored her protests, holding her even tighter. “Don’t move. I’ll take care of it when we get back.” He strode out of the room, pausing only when he passed Dorian. “You need to calm down and figure out what it is you really want,” he said, his voice cold. Then he was gone.
The room fell silent. With that, she took Lucian by the arm and walked out.
Once outside, she saw that Lucian’s lip was split. A wave of guilt washed over her. “I’m so sorry. I had no idea he would show up and act like a complete lunatic p>
Lucian stepped forward and pulled her into a hug. Elysia’s eyes widened, and she froze, speechless.
