Chapter 933
“I’ve been trying to win you back,” he continued. “Regardless of everything else, you’re carrying my child now, and I want to offer you some compensation. This is the property and equity stake I’m preparing to transfer to you.”
Amara froze. He hadn’t come to bring her food; he had come to throw money at her.
She glanced at the documents but didn’t reach for them.
Knowing she wouldn’t bother, Finnian held them up right in front of her.
“Amara, I want to give you several properties, some gold bullion, cash, and a portion of the Everly Group’s equity stake. Take a look.”
Since the papers were practically shoved in her face, Amara skimmed the clauses. Her eyes went wide.
This…
Finnian was actually going to give her all this?
The properties alone were worth millions of dollars. Add in the gold, the cash, the equity…
The total value was a staggering fortune, easily crossing into the billions.
Amara was dumbfounded. This was worth way more than the shares Larry Sullivan had given her. It felt like she was looking at hot coals.
She immediately took a step back, her reflexes kicking in as she pushed the folder away.
“I don’t want this, Finnian. Stop it.”
She refused without a second thought.
This obviously wasn’t Finnian’s entire net worth.
As the head of the Everly Group, he had to maintain a controlling interest of over fifty percent to properly manage the company, so he definitely had far more wealth stashed away.
But what he was offering her was still an astronomical figure.
Amara had never been one to take advantage of others, and since she had no intention of keeping the baby, why would she take his money? Her rejection was absolute.
“This is what you’re owed,” Finnian insisted. “You’re carrying my child, and I need to
take responsibility. This is my way of giving you security.”
He wanted to give her so much
།
more than this. But he couldn’t hand over the contralling interest in the Everly Group, or he’d lose his leverage over the board of directors
and his ability to run the company.
If only they could just get married-then everything he owned would naturally
become their joint assets.
Security?
A sarcastic smile curled Amara’s lips.
She looked him in the eye. “I don’t want your security, Finnian, and certainly don’t want the baby The
only thing I’m trying to figure out
im
right now is how to terminate this pregnancy.”
“You stopped my procedure the other day. You stopped me from returning to my normal life. I haven’t forgotten that.”
She phased it delicately.
But what she really meant was that she was keeping a running tally of his offenses.
As far as she was concerned, they were enemies.
Even without her saying it outright, Finnian understood perfectly.
His heart ached. Did she really have to get rid of the child?
It was their shared flesh and blood. Couldn’t she just keep it?
Instead of immediately arguing back like he used to, Finnian just stood there, staring
at her, the hurt pooling visibly in his eyes.
Amara looked away. Honestly, she would have preferred it if he yelled at her.
If he threw a tantrum, she could throw a bigger one and shut him down.
But him just standing there, looking at her like a wounded animal? It was making her feel awful, too.
