Even though they didn’t share a drop of blood, the old man treated her like his very own granddaughter. If push came to shove and Antonia actually tried to ruin her, Amara could always go straight to him for help. She wasn’t the least bit intimidated by this spoiled brat.

“You resort to throwing your weight around the second you lose an argument,” Amara noted calmly. “It just proves you have nothing intelligent to say. Everything I just pointed out was completely accurate.”

“As for your little threats, that’s high school mean-girl behavior. I highly suggest you grow up and drop the act.”

“The Everly family is one of the most prestigious names in Wye. Stop dragging it through the mud.”

With that, Amara turned on her heel, walked into her dressing room, and locked the door behind her, completely shutting the girl out.

Antonia stared at the closed wooden door, her entire body shaking with rage. She had heard rumors about Amara in the past. People used to say that after her accident years ago, all the bullying had completely broken her spirit, turning her into a doormat who wouldn’t even dare to speak up.

But now that she had actually met her, Antonia realized the woman had a razor- sharp tongue that could easily leave her speechless. This wasn’t some weak, helpless pushover. This was an absolute nightmare of a woman who refused to back down.

Antonia was boiling over with fury, but with the door firmly locked in her face, she couldn’t exactly start pounding on the wood and screaming insults. She had an image to maintain in front of the crew.
