Dorian’s eyes were red and brimming with tears, his voice trembling. “Elysia, I swear, I never thought you were a fool. And I really did not sleep with Jessica. If I’m lying, may something awful happen to me.”

Elysia let out a laugh, as if she found Dorian’s words ridiculous and unbelievable.

A shudder ran through Dorian, and a wave of fear welled up inside him.

Elysia was so convinced that he had slept with Jessica that she’d gone so far as to end their pregnancy over it—the child he had longed for was gone. Did this really mean that he and Elysia were over for good?

He couldn’t accept it. He stepped forward. “Why are you doing this?”

Amara noticed the dangerous look in Dorian’s eyes. Worried that he might hurt Elysia in his emotional state, she immediately stepped in front of Elysia to shield her. “Dorian, what do you think you’re doing?”

Dorian pushed her aside. “Don’t get in my way!”

He didn’t push Amara very hard, but she’d moved quickly and the floor was slippery she lost her balance and fell to the ground.

“Ama, are you okay?” Elysia cried out in alarm, trying to get out of bed to help Amara.

But her body was still weak after the procedure-she hadn’t recovered yet. The moment she moved, a wave of pain swept through her.

Dorian, who had been about to help Amara, panicked when he saw Elysia wince and clutch her stomach, and rushed over to support Elysia instead. “…Are you all right?”

Just then, the door to the hospital room swung open again. Keith walked in.

Keith had come to check on Elysia; he’d heard the news about her losing the baby from hospital staff. But the first thing he saw when he walked in was Amara on the floor.

Startled, he hurried over and helped Amara to her feet. “What happened?”

Amara shook her head. “I’m fine.”

She had only fallen for a moment; her baby bump wasn’t even that big yet. She didn’t feel any pain. But Keith’s expression was cold and grim.

He had seen Dorian push Amara a moment earlier. Without a word, Keith scooped Amara up in his arms, shot Dorian an icy glare, and said, “You just wait,” then left the room carrying Amara.

Keith walked through the hospital carrying Amara in his arms. Many people eyed them as they passed.

Keith was a celebrity, and Amara was also somewhat in the public eye. The two of them were known for their highly publicized engagement, so it was only natural people recognized them and couldn’t help but stare.

Amara couldn’t take the attention anymore. She tapped Keith on the arm. “Really, I’m fine. My stomach doesn’t hurt at all. Would you please put me down? Haven’t you noticed everyone is looking at us?”

Keith ignored her protest and carried her all the way outside the hospital.

Once outside, he finally set Amara down, giving her a quick once-over to make sure she really was okay. Seeing she seemed genuinely unharmed, he let out a sigh of relief.

“So what happened in there? Why did Elysia end the pregnancy?” Keith asked.

Amara sighed and didn’t go into too many details. “Jessica messaged Elysia, stirring up again with that whole mess between her Dorian Elysia couldn’t take it`

anymore; she was so angry she

made that decision.”

Thinking about the photo Jessica had sent to Elysia suddenly reminded Amara of Finnian.

Finnian had once told her that

nothing had ever happened between him and Liliana. At first, she hadn’t

totally believed him, but later she’d decided he had no reason to be to her and accepted it as the truth.

But now, she wasn’t so sure. After all, Finnian and Liliana had dated before.

“Keith, can I ask you something?” Amara said, nudging him.
