Chapter 842
She sat on the sofa, pulling her knees to her chest as she wept bitterly.
Finnian was an absolute bastard. He was constantly turning her life upside down, wreaking havoc on her peace while still staying hopelessly entangled with Liliana. The anger burned so brightly inside her that, for a fleeting moment, she wished she had never met him.
After crying on the couch for a while, she finally let out all the suffocating despair through her tears. Once her emotions settled, she made a conscious decision to push him out of her mind.
The next morning, Amara was supposed to head to the set when Larry called. He asked if she was free to come home for lunch.
“I have time, Dad,” she replied. “I’ll get ready and head over.”
Since she wasn’t a strict on-set screenwriter, she had the flexibility to skip if something came up. She grabbed her things and drove straight to the Sullivan estate.
She wasn’t overly curious about why Larry had invited her. Their relationship had been warming up lately, so she assumed he just missed her and wanted to share a meal.
However, to her surprise, when she walked into the living room, she found Fiona and Elowen dressed to the nines, sitting side-by-side downstairs.
Although Elowen was currently grounded by Larry, the punishment only restricted her from leaving the house. She was still allowed out of her bedroom.
But lately, Elowen had been having a complete meltdown over being confined. Resentful of her father, she had refused to leave her room, choosing to eat and sulk in isolation.
Yet today, she had taken the time to dress up elegantly, complete with fresh makeup, and was sitting respectfully on the sofa waiting for lunch. Amara couldn’t help but give her a skeptical look.
Without asking any questions, Amara simply sat down to chat with Larry.
He asked her a few questions about how she had been doing lately, then gestured toward the dining room. “Lunch is ready. Let’s eat before it gets cold.”
The four of them moved to the dining room.
Larry took his usual seat at the head of the table. Amara and Fiona sat on either side of him, with Elowen taking the seat next to her mothe The arrangement felt eerily reminiscent of Amara’s life before
she left for college.
Back then, the four of them had lived under the same roof, gathering at this exact
table in these exact seats every single day.
Amara passed a few serving dishes
toward Larry and asked about his
health, The father and daughter fell into a warm, natural conversa completely ignoring Fiona and
Elowen, almost as if they were the only two people in the room.
Watching this unfold, Fiona ground her teeth. She subtly nudged Elowen, signaling her to make a move.
Elowen bit her lip. Reluctantly, she carefully plated a choice piece of roast and placed it delicately onto Larry’s plate. Forcing a bright smile, she said, “Dad, have some more. You need the protein.”
Larry merely glanced at her, gave a brief nod, and said nothing.
Fiona’s hands balled into tight fists under the table.
Just moments ago, Amara had simply passed a dish closer to him, and Larry had immediately reciprocated plating food on her plate and dotingly telling her she needed to eat more because she looked too thin. He had showered Amara with affection.
But when Elowen personally served him a prime cut of meat—a gesture that required far more effort—Larry barely acknowledged it. He didn’t even utter a single word of thanks.
It was agonizingly clear that Amara’s position in Larry’s heart had entirely eclipsed Elowen’s.
If that was the case, they needed to accelerate their plans.
