Chapter 917
Finnian’s attitude was exceptionally courteous; he was fully treating Larry with the utmost respect due an elder.
Larry, on the other hand, showed him zero courtesy. Looking him up and down, he offered a curt nod before spinning around and leading the way into his study.
Finnian lowered his gaze and followed, tailing silently behind him.
Larry took a seat behind his desk, his face set in stone. He stared coldly at Finnian without saying a word, intentionally failing to offer him a chair.
In the past, if anyone had dared to assert dominance over him like this, Finnian would have completely ignored the power play and dragged a chair over himself.
But the man sitting across from him was Amara’s father, his prospective father-in- law. He didn’t dare step out of line.
Yet, standing there like a reprimanded schoolboy was hardly practical for a conversation. “Mr. Sullivan, may I sit?” he asked.
Larry continued to scrutinize him.
The old Finnian would never have bothered asking for permission. He would have simply made himself comfortable.
After all, Finnian was the Chairman and CEO of the Everly Group. If it weren’t for Amara, they wouldn’t be on equal footing at all. Finnian possessed more than enough status to throw his weight around in this house.
Yet here he was, treating him with immense deference, genuinely acting like a respectful subordinate.
Larry still couldn’t stand the sight of the younger man, but he decided to grant him this small shred of dignity. Giving a sharp nod, he said, “Have a seat.”
Exhaling a quiet sigh of relief, Finnian pulled out a chair and sat directly across from Larry.
He kept his posture rigid, avoiding direct eye contact and keeping his gaze slightly lowered out of respect.
Ever since things came to light with Amara, he understood the dynamic she had with her father. That meant he had to respect barry astamelder statesman of the family.
He began, “Mr. Sullivan, I’ve come to you today as Amara’s former husband and
current suitor. I’d like to have a frank conversation.”
Despite the brief introduction, Larry remained stoic in his chair, completely unmoving and clearly unbothered to speak.
Finnian pressed on, “Mr. Sullivan, let
me solemnly assure you again. I care deeply for Amara, and I want to be with her. Moreover, I want her to keep the baby which is why I stepped in to stop the abortion today.”
“I’m telling you upfront, I will continue to stop her from terminating the pregnancy in the future.”
“She’s carrying our child, and I refuse to let her undergo the procedure in secret without a word.”
“When she finally takes me back, I will treat her phenomenally well. You can confidently trust her future to me. I swear I will never let you down.”
Finnian delivered the promise like a sacred vow. Larry merely sneered and replied, “Did Amara ever mention that I was the one who fold her to get rid of the baby?”
Finnian’s head snapped up, his eyes locking dead onto Larry.
He quickly lowered his gaze again, but Larry still caught the fleeting flash of intense displeasure in his eyes.
“Mr. Sullivan, why would you ask her to terminate the pregnancy?” Finnian demanded.
“You didn’t know the baby was mine at first, did you? Did you think she was carrying some stranger’s child and wanted her to handle it quietly?”
Larry’s voice was grim. “Initially, I was furious to discover she was pregnant out of wedlock. I wanted her to abort, but she refused.”
“So I told her that if she went through with the procedure, I’d give her the entirety of my equity stake.”
