Finnian lifted his head slightly, gazing at her with a dazed expression.
Amara had made a good point earlier he wasn’t exactly in his right mind, and when people weren’t fully conscious, they tended to act out of control.
With that thought lingering, he clumsily lowered his head and, through her mask, kissed her. Amara’s eyes widened, and instantly, she pushed his shoulders, attempting to pull him away.
Finnian’s gaze was still hazy, and he pressed Amara against the wall, lowering his head to brush her earlobe. “Why are you rejecting me p>
Amara gritted her teeth furiously. “What do you mean, why? If some random woman kissed you, would you be okay with it p>
“No, I wouldn’t. But,” he replied and then paused, his voice cracking. “Last time I kissed you, you seemed to enjoy it p>
Amara’s face flushed a deep red. She shoved his shoulder fiercely. “I did not! Stop talking nonsense p>
Finnian said nothing, just buried his head in the crook of her neck, holding onto her tightly as if he had no intention of letting go.
Amara was genuinely infuriated now. She stomped on his foot hard. “Let go of me now p>
Her tone was getting seriously stern. Finnian raised his head, seeing the anger blazing in her bright eyes. He felt a pang of guilt and loosened his grip a bit. “Don’t be mad p>
This jerk! After what he’d done, how could she not be mad?
Amara pointed at the door as she snapped, “Just leave, and I won’t be mad if you do p>
Finnian rubbed his forehead, slowly making his way to the door. As he grasped the doorknob, he paused suddenly and asked, “Elysia and Dorian are getting married, and she wants you to be a bridesmaid p>
“Yeah, so what p>
“Nothing.” Finnian asked again, “Are you heading over two days early p>
“Yeah p>
This man was just asking random questions, but for what reason? Amara thought for a moment before going over to open the door for him. “Mr. Everly, just go, get some rest p>
Seeing her tense little face, Finnian felt a bit helpless, but he didn’t want to push her any further. After giving her one last look, he left.
Soon, Elysia’s wedding day arrived.
As a bridesmaid, Amara needed to arrive two days early to prepare. She
lugged her suitcase to the Vera Lodge and took the elevator up to
the ninth floor.
Traditionally, the bride’s room and the bridesmaid’s room shouldn’t be right next to
each other; the bride’s room should be a notch fancier.
But Elysia insisted on sharing a suite with Amara, despite the Hawke family’s objections. Sticking to her guns, she stayed with Amara.
Amara placed her luggage in the room and headed to the suite’s living room, plopping down on the couch next to Elysia.
Elysia was wrapped in a bathrobe, a slim female smoking cigarette between her fingers. She took a long drag and exhaled slowly, looking a bit annoyed.
Amara snatched the cigarette away, stubbing it out in the ashtray and questioned, “What’s up? Having second thoughts? It’s not too late to back out p>
“Not exactly having second thoughts. After all, it’s Dorian,” Elysia said calmly.
She knew Dorian was a bit of a bastard; she’d never denied that. But Dorian was someone she had been fond of for many years. Now that they were finally getting thei happy ending, she didn’t want to let go.
