Chapter 926
Wiping the corners of her eyes, she forced down her sour emotions and said, “Mr. Everly, you definitely have feelings for Liliana. Maybe it’s not obvious, maybe it’s mixed with gratitude and you can’t even tell the difference yourself, but you do care for her. Stop making excuses.”
“Besides, even if you didn’t love Liliana, so what? Even if you loved me completely, so what?” Amara continued. “Just because you love me, does that mean I have to be with you?”
“By that logic, if someone else loves me, do I have to be with them too?”
“Mr. Everly, the world doesn’t work that way. Please leave.”
She delivered those words with unshakable resolve, and in doing so, her mind
cleared significantly.
Without sparing him another glance, she turned and walked away.
Finnian stared blankly at her retreating figure. He didn’t chase after her immediately; something just felt incredibly off.
Why was she so certain he loved Liliana?
Amara was a highly rational and intelligent woman.
If this were the past, her misunderstanding him would make sense.
But just a few days ago, he had published a post on Twitter explicitly stating that Liliana had saved his life, and that his kindness toward her was purely out of gratitude.
Furthermore, when he almost married Liliana, he canceled the wedding the moment he discovered the truth about what happened four months ago, averting a massive mistake.
Given all these events, why was she still so convinced of his feelings for Liliana?
Just a short while ago, she had been relatively cordial toward him. But one day, her attitude shifted drastically—she became freezing cold and violently rejected his touch.
He had been baffled at the time. Had something happened that he didn’t know about? Why the sudden change?
He had even asked her why she was being so distant, but she had refused to give him an answer. Was he just overthinking it?
Finnian stood there for a long time, unable to come up with an answer.
Meanwhile, because Amara had stopped Elysia from confronting Dorian, she hadn’t gone.
But after returning home, the more Elysia thought about it, the angrier she got. She couldn’t eat dinner, nor could she sleep. She tossed and turned in bed all night, managing barely two hours of rest.
By the next morning, she had reached her limit. She had a fiery
temper and wasn’t the type to bottle things up if there was a problem, she demanded a direct
confrontation.
Deciding to stop suppressing her true nature, she practically inhaled her breakfast, grabbed her things, and stormed straight into the Hawke Group headquarters.
Elysia and Dorian were still legally married. To the employees of the Hawke Group she was still the CEO’s wife, so she breezed all the
way up to the executive suite on the
top floor with zero resistance.
Arriving at his office door, she didn’t care if he was busy. She shoved the door open with a loud bang and marched in.
Dorian was sitting at his desk, assigning tasks to his two executive assistants.
Irritated by someone barging in unannounced, he looked up, fully prepared to chew them out.
But the moment he saw Elysia’s face, his irritation vanished, instantly replaced by shock and overwhelming joy.
He shot up from his chair. “Ely, you’re here! Did you come to see me? Come, have a seat.”
Unable to hide his desperation, he quickly crossed the room, reaching out to pull her toward the sofa and offer her a drink.
They had been at odds for days. Forget seeing him—she hadn’t even been picking up his calls or replying to his texts.
