Amara frowned, feeling an uncomfortable wave of irritation. Was Dorian actually threatening her?
Just as she was about to respond, a tall figure stepped in front of her, blocking her view of Dorian and staring him down without a hint of backing down.
“Dorian,” the man in front of her said in a deep voice, “take back what you just said p>
It was Finnian.
Amara was taken aback.
By conventional standards, it might seem a bit much for her to refuse to call Elysia today. So, Finnian standing up for her in this situation was truly surprising.
Not just Amara, but everyone else in the room was looking at Finnian with a mix of curiosity and uncertainty.
Finnian and his disfigured ex-wife had been like strangers for so long. Now, post- divorce, he was suddenly stepping up to protect her?
Amara could feel a venomous gaze boring into her, and she didn’t need to look to know it was Liliana.
Aside from that, there were numerous curious and gossip-hungry eyes on her, but she paid them no mind. She stepped out from behind Finnian and said to Dorian, “I told you, I’m not calling Elysia. If you want her, go get her yourself. After all, this is your wedding p>
Amara’s stance was firm. She was absolutely not going to call Elysia, especially with Finnian by her side offering his support. Dorian’s fists clenched, his knuckles cracking.
He didn’t look at Amara but instead addressed Finnian, “Finn, move aside p>
Finnian didn’t respond verbally; his gaze simply grew colder, and the tension in the room was palpable.
Then, just as the clock ticked closer to 11:50, the stalemate was broken by the sudden opening of the bedroom door.
Elysia appeared in the doorway.
She was dressed in a silk gown embroidered with golden threads, her feet clad in stiletto heels. Her hair was elegantly pinned up, her makeup flawlessly applied, and her ears, neck, and wrists adorned with expensive jewelry. She was every inch the bride ready for an intimate wedding reception.
Everyone froze at the sight of her.

Dorian snapped out of his stupor and hurried to catch up, wrapping an arm around Elysia’s waist.
He held her tightly enough that she stumbled a bit and frowned, “I’m wearing heels, you know. Could you be a little gentler p>
She gave Dorian a shove, and though he didn’t let go, he relaxed his grip a bit.
The two led the way downstairs, with Amara following closely behind. A chattering crowd trailed them, and Finnian was by her side.
“What’s going on here?” Finnian asked in a low voice.
Amara wasn’t in the mood to entertain him, still annoyed by the memory of
Finnian forcing a kiss on her that day.
But seeing how he had just stood up for her against Dorian, she replied, “I don’t know. Let’s just head down p>
With Elysia and Dorian leading, and Amara and Finnian trailing as the bridesmaid and groomsman, no one really found it odd. It made perfect
sense for them to be close to the bride and groom.
