The past was the past. The important thing was that Finnian had agreed to keep the baby, and he had been taking good care of her lately. All she needed to do now was focus on filming and preparing for the baby’s arrival, without letting her mind spiral into unnecessary worries.
After all, she had the leverage of having this child, and as long as she made sure nothing went wrong, there was not necessary to harbor trepidation. With this clarity, Liliana clenched her fists and left.
In the days that followed, Finnian didn’t approach her again. Amara figured he must have been out of his mind to say those things before, and now he probably wanted to slap himself for it.
That afternoon, after wrapping up all the scenes on the island, the crew piled onto the shuttle bus and headed back to Wye.
Once they reached the set and settled in, Amara was just finishing unpacking when Elysia came bustling in.
“Ama, what on earth happened the other day? You were in some kind of trouble?” Elysia asked as soon as she walked in.
Amara was just putting the last box away when she saw Elysia, all flustered and clearly having just heard the news. She quickly sat her down on the couch and handed her a cup of warm water.
“Here, have some water and calm down. I’m fine, really. By the way, how did you find out? Was it Keith who told you p>
“Yeah, he just told me you fell into a sinkhole while out for a walk. How could you not tell me about something like that sooner? Keith is unbelievable, waiting until you all got back to mention it. What, he didn’t have hands or a mouth before p>
Elysia had a fiery temper to begin with, and now she was all riled up, words spilling out nonstop. Amara gave her shoulder a reassuring pat. “I didn’t want to worry you, that’s all. I wasn’t hurt or anything, so what’s there to stress about p>
Elysia shot her a look. “You not telling me makes me worry even more. Never mind, as long as you’re okay p>
Amara chuckled and sat down beside her. “Enough about that. So, you and Dorian are getting married next week, right p>
Elysia had messaged her about it a few days ago, but Amara had been too busy
to reply properly, so now was the perfect time to catch up.
Elysia pouted. “Yeah, next Friday. You’ll be my maid of honor, right? I think Finnian’s supposed to be the best man, but thank goodness you two are divorced. Otherwise, it would’ve been awkward p>
To Elysia, Amara and Finnian’s divorce meant they had no ties left.
Amara was gradually moving on, and Finnian had never really considered her feelings in the first place, so when they met, it wasn’t like the typical awkwardnesse between ex-spouses. They could both just pretend the other was invisible.
Amara hesitated and then decided not to mention Finnian’s recent confession. He probably regretted it by now.
“Why the rush, though? Didn’t you just decide on the wedding?” she asked.
“Yeah, well, Dorian’s grandpa’s going to kick the bucket. They want to have the
ceremony while he’s still around to see his grandson get married p>
Elysia spoke with a casual air. She’d been fond of Dorian for years, but she’d never had much regard for the Hawke family or Dorian’s circle of friends. Her attitude toward them was always nonchalant.
