A jolt of alarm shot through Finnian. “You’re leaving?” he asked.

Amara nodded. “I’m moving out.”

She was really moving out. Finnian hadn’t expected her to be so decisive. When she said she didn’t want to see him anymore, she truly meant it…..

But her own place wasn’t even finished yet. If she left the Everly estate, where would she go—live in a hotel?

Finnian quickly said, “Please, don’t go. Stay here and keep Grandpa company. I won’t come back anymore.”

The truth was, Finnian had been living in his own apartment for years. He had only moved back into the family home because Amara was staying there.

But if Amara really couldn’t stand to see him, then he would be the one to move out. Amara shook her head at once. “Mr. Everly, this is your home. Of course you should live here. How could you move out just because of me?”

“Besides, my place will be ready soon, and filming for the new series will start before long. I can manage for a little while, and then I’ll be staying with the production crew. You should stay and keep your grandfather company.”

Finnian shook his head firmly. “No.”

He looked up at Amara. “I’ll agree to anything else. I know you don’t want to see me, so I’ll do my best to stay out of your way, alright? Just please, don’t move out.”

“I don’t have much time to spend with Grandpa anyway, and honestly, he’d rather have you here with him. Please, don’t go.”

That was only part of it. The truth was, Finnian had a selfish reason: he simply wanted Amara to stay in the Everly home.

It might be his grandfather’s house, not his own, but as long as Amara stayed with the Everly family, he felt at peace.

Amara thought for a moment, then said, “Alright. I won’t move out until my place is ready.”

She silently added to herself, as long as Finnian didn’t keep coming over just to see her. If he came to visit his grandfather, that was fine. But if he kept seeking her out, she would still leave.

She could tell Mr. Kevin Everly really wanted her to stay.

He was getting older, and after Mrs. Grace Everly passed away, he’d been very lonely. Every time Amara spent time with him, he was visibly happier.

Finnian looked at her for a long moment. He had actually come intending to say more to explain that he’d never meant to hurt her, that he hadn’t been toying with her feelings.

But now, face to face, he realized explanations were pointless. From Amaras perspective, him constantly showing up while he was about to marry someone else really was inappropriate.

He dropped his gaze, swallowing the ache in his chest, and left Amara’s room. With the matter settled for now, Finnian returned to living in his own apartment, following his old routine of shuttling between home and the office.

One day, Hogan arrived at the company looking exhausted, his expression grim.

He’d spent the past few days

traveling for business, negotiating project after project. He had also uncovered something shocking the than who caused his car

Wasn’t that man just a random stranger? How could he have ties to Liliana?
