The thought made Liliana clench her fists, her eyes darkening with a stormy intensity.

Before long, the first of the month rolled around. Whispers of Winter would wrap up filming in just over two weeks, and the set was a whirlwind of activity. Everyone’s workload had doubled or even tripled, but no one complained. The sooner they finished, the sooner they could rest; the whole team was fueled by the finish line in sight.

As head writer, Amara was naturally working overtime, revising scripts late into the night. This evening was no different-she was still at her desk past nine o’clock.

A knock came at her door. “Come in,” she called, barely glancing up. Keith strolled in like he owned the place, flopping onto the couch and pouring himself a glass of water with the comfort of someone at home.

He took a leisurely sip before saying, “Have you noticed? Lately, Finnian and Liliana seem to be getting even closer p>

Amara paused, then resumed typing, her eyes on the screen. “Weren’t they always joined at the hip? How much closer could they get p>

“I can’t quite put my finger on it,” Keith replied, shaking his head. “It’s just Finnian’s gone the extra mile for Liliana these past few days. You haven’t noticed him running back and forth on set? The way he looks after her he’s doting on her nonstop p>

“Wasn’t there a time someone joked that Finnian took better care of Liliana than I take care of you?” Amara recalled, her chest tightening for a split second as she remembered Louis’ teasing words that had left Liliana visibly upset.

She masked it with a casual tone. “What’s the big deal? Didn’t Liliana just have a miscarriage? She’s been through hell lately-of course Finnian’s going to be extra attentive p>

Keith kept a close eye on Amara’s expression, only relaxing when he saw no trace of sadness.

“Oh, right—what are you planning to do about the baby?” he asked, trying to sound offhand. “If you want, after it’s born, you could put my name on the birth certificate p>

Amara was mid-sip and nearly

choked, splattering water all over her keyboard, Grabbing a wad of

tissues, she wiped the keys and shot

Keith @glare. “What on earth are you talking about? Why would I put your name down? How are you ever going to find a wife if you pull a stunt like that?” s

Because I want to marry you, Keith thought silently.

He sprawled back on the couch and drawled, “Who says I want to get married?

My parents are on my case about being single, but if I have a kid on paper, that’ll keep them off my back p>

Amara just rolled her eyes. As far as

she was concerned, Keith was talking nonsense-he was probably just worried about the stigma of being a single dad and had come up with this harebrained scheme as a solution. s

Seeing his theatrics, Amara thumped him again, this time with a grin. “I don’t care

if you never get married, but there’s no way my child’s going on your family register p>

“What, am I not good enough for you?” Keith nearly bounced off the couch, only half joking.

This time, he seemed genuinely upset.

Amara’s smile turned icy. “If I registered my child under your name, what do you think Larry would do when he found out p>

Keith hadn’t considered that angle. At her words, he fell silent, losing his bluster.
