Chapter 942
Chapter 942:
“Our biggest triumph was killing Millie’s child without anyone noticing p>
Those two lines alone left no doubt about how close Vivian and her ally really were.
“You’re always reliable…” Brandon repeated the words, his voice rough around the edges.
Eugene’s neat stack of documents tied it all together. The connection between Vivian and Macauley had been solid from the start. How could she ever act friendly with someone who’d once sexually assaulted her?
There was only one answer. Everything had been carefully planned. All of it, just one big act.
A quiet laugh slipped from Brandon’s lips.
Vivian had once hinted that Millie’s car crash was just a setup—that Millie did it to herself to grab attention. But the real act had been Vivian’s all along.
He struggled to wrap his mind around it. He had never thought a woman could pull off something so cold-blooded. He had trusted Vivian without question.
A single tear dropped onto the document and bled into the paper. Now he saw it for what it was—a web of lies, a cruel trick, everything turned upside down. What could he believe anymore?
His thoughts went to Millie. Their children. The family that should have been. Heartache squeezed the air from his lungs. It felt as if the very ground were caving in beneath him.
The pressure finally broke him, and he coughed up blood onto the files scattered in front of him.
“Mr. Watson!” Eugene’s shout cut through the silence.
Eugene dashed off to find help, but Brandon gave a weary shake of his head. He wiped the blood from his mouth, turned his wheelchair, and rolled to the basement door. With a deep breath, he pushed it open and disappeared inside. The door closed behind him, and Vivian looked up.
Vivian had been lost in thought, unaware of the chaos that had happened just moments before. But her mind was already working, mapping out her next move. First, she had to keep Brandon calm. Maybe she could use her suffering a year ago as leverage—at least get him to let her leave this place. None of the old plans mattered now. If she found even the slightest chance, she’d run.

With determination growing, Vivian watched as Brandon entered and shut the door behind him. She rushed to his side.
“Brandon…” Her voice broke as she started to cry. She fell at his feet, grabbing onto his leg, tears streaming down her face. “I made a terrible mistake. Jealousy over Millie clouded my mind. I promise, I’ll never bring up what happened p>
“Before, let’s just call it quits. Whatever happened between us, let’s leave it in the past. We don’t owe each other anything anymore p>
Vivian wept. “You should talk to her. Fix what’s broken. I’ll go with you if you want. Millie isn’t married to Myron yet. You never betrayed her—I’m the one to blame. If we tell her the truth, maybe we can put things back together again p>
Vivian kept her gaze fixed on the floor, her shoulders trembling as tears streaked down her cheeks.
“I’ll do whatever you want,” she begged, her words broken by sobs. “If you’d rather I disappear, send me away. I’ll go overseas and never come back. I promise you’ll never have to worry about me getting between you and Millie again p>
Getting shipped off seemed like her best shot.
If that didn’t sway him, she planned to offer to talk things out with Millie herself. Surely, Brandon wouldn’t turn down that offer.
