Chapter 705
Chapter 705:
She remembered the child she lost, the one she had grieved for endlessly. Compared to that, the physical agony had been nothing; the real wound was the one in her heart.
There was a chance she might never be able to carry a child again.
“Who exactly do you plan on having children with, then?” Brandon’s voice exploded, the anger he’d been holding back finally breaking loose.
Millie shoved him away with every ounce of strength she had, her sobs breaking apart her words. “Whoever it is, it will never be you p>
His rage deepened, now tangled with something far more complicated: longing, bitterness, and emotions he couldn’t even name.
“You’re choosing Myron, aren’t you?” His chest rose and fell, each breath carrying more heat than the last.
“I saw it with my own eyes!” he shouted. “You’re living together under the same roof p>
The sound of his roar shattered what was left of Millie’s restraint.
“Who I live with has nothing to do with you!” she screamed back, her voice cutting through the air.
“Nothing to do with me?” He bore down on her, gripping her shoulders and forcing her back onto the bed. “I am your husband p>
“Not anymore!” Millie shot back without hesitation. “We’re divorced! We’re nothing to each other p>
“So you are living with him?” Brandon’s voice tore through the room. “Are you sleeping with him p>
His next words were strained, forced out as if they burned to say, “Have you been with him like that p>
A sharp cry escaped Millie as Brandon’s hands clamped down harder, her desperate attempts to break free useless against his overpowering hold.
“Answer me!” Brandon’s demand was a roar.

“This is between me and him!” Millie fired back. “We’re divorced, Brandon.
Whoever I choose to be with now is none of your concern p>
Millie’s words were met with a thunderous shout. “So you’re admitting it p>
Before Millie could respond, his fist shot up, and the air between them seemed to crack.
Millie’s eyes squeezed shut instinctively, bracing for the blow that never came.
Instead of pain, the sound of his fist slamming into the wall beside her rang in her ears.
Hot tears streamed down from his face, falling onto her skin like unwanted rain.
“You really thought I’d hit you?” His voice cracked with grief. “Millie… how could I ever raise a hand to you p>
His hands clamped tightly on her shoulders again, as if holding her in place would stop her from slipping away entirely.
Millie could only stare at him, frozen between fear and disbelief, her own tears refusing to stop.
The man standing over her looked like he was unraveling, teetering on the edge of something dangerous.
Millie parted her lips to speak, but before a word could leave, he closed the space and crushed his mouth against hers.
