Chapter 116
Chapter 116:
Millie turned toward Charles with a quiet gaze and responded gently, “I appreciate it.” The money didn’t worry her; what truly concerned her was whether Brandon would get dragged into trouble because of it.
At that moment, Brandon made no move. But would he later? No one could say for sure.
Meanwhile, Vivian felt trapped by the situation.
Trying to raise the bid further would be painful, and she couldn’t guess whether her rival would push the price even higher. Refusing to raise the bid could make both her and Brandon look bad. She wavered, unsure, and Brandon tapped his finger against the table in response.
“Keep going,” Brandon’s voice was firm and direct.
Vivian hesitated. Instead of moving immediately, she turned toward him with anxious eyes. “Brandon, we don’t need to keep going. The bid is already past its real value.”
There was a brief pause as she looked embarrassed. “And honestly, I don’t even have enough left to cover it.”
Brandon’s gaze went straight to the tanzanite, his expression calm and unshaken.
In his mind, the tanzanite already felt like it belonged to him.
“Don’t worry about the money,” he said.
The message was clear. He intended to cover the cost of everything.
Vivian let out a relieved sigh, but still insisted, “No, Brandon. We promised I would cover it on my own.”
Meanwhile, a few guests remained in the shadows, quietly observing as they waited for the outcome.
At that very moment, the villa’s front doors swung open, drawing everyone’s attention.
A wheelchair entered the room, carrying an elderly man who, despite sitting, exuded dignity and strength. A warm smile lit up his face.
“Apologies for arriving late,” he said, smiling warmly. “The energy in here is incredible tonight. I could feel the excitement before I even stepped inside.”

When Charles spotted the elderly man, he quickly got up and rushed down the stairs to help.
“Grandpa, what brought you here yourself?” Charles asked, surprised to see Napier in the main hall.
Charles had assumed that Napier would remain in a private seat and send for Millie later. Seeing him enter in his wheelchair was unexpected.
Napier leaned on his cane as he answered, “I simply wanted to see things for myself.” At that moment, two other members of the Evans family arrived and stepped forward to assist.
Derek, however, motioned for them to hold back. Still smiling, he glanced around at the crowd. His eyes paused when they landed on Brandon, Vivian, and Millie, before turning to the item up for auction.
Then, in his usual cryptic manner, he said something that seemed to pass over most people’s heads: “There’s something truly special about being young.”
Napier’s unexpected arrival caused the room to fall silent. The auctioneer, who had been preparing to continue, paused as Napier lightly tapped a plate beside him.
“It’s time for a short break now. We’ll pick up with the next round in a little while,” the auctioneer announced.
