Chapter 958
Chapter 958:
The receptionist quickly regained her composure and beamed. “Welcome, Miss Bennett p>
Millie acknowledged her with a polite nod.
“I’ve brought Millie in for some beauty treatments today,” Helga added. By then, the manager, already expecting their arrival, walked over to greet them personally.
“Mrs. Elliott, Miss Bennett, welcome,” the manager said warmly. “I was just starting to wonder why you suddenly left and when you’d be back. So, you just went to fetch Miss Bennett p>
Helga offered a brief nod and kept quiet, gently holding Millie’s hand as they continued inside.
Millie, still unsure of Helga’s intentions, simply trailed behind, glancing over at the manager for any hint. The manager shot her a sly wink, as if trying to send a secret message. Unfortunately, Millie didn’t know the manager well enough to read into it and let the gesture pass.
As they moved deeper into the place, a hallway split off in two directions. Helga turned to the manager and said, “Show us to my regular room.” For a moment, the manager hesitated.
“There’s something I should mention, Mrs. Elliott…” the manager stammered. “We do have a number of lovely suites available. Maybe p>
Helga only let out a sharp laugh, then turned to Millie. “Come with me.” Without waiting for a response, she led Millie down the corridor.
As they approached one of the rooms, Millie caught the sound of people talking inside.
“All I did was speak my mind, and she flew into a rage and stormed out. How is that my fault? Honestly, what I said wasn’t even wrong. Why would her son even consider dating someone like p>
𝓥𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓬𝓴𝓮𝓭:
“Millie? Everyone knows her background—a girl from a family that lost everything, who spent seven years with another man. I was only looking out for her and her son, suggesting he see someone more decent. What’s wrong with that? I mentioned the Smith family girl simply because I believed she would be a better choice for her son. That girl, after all, has a spotless reputation and comes from a good family p>
From inside the room, a woman’s voice carried on, her conversation seemingly endless as she chatted on the phone. Helga and Millie paused just outside the door, while the manager shifted uncomfortably, looking as if she wanted to interrupt. Helga’s sharp glance was enough to stop her in her tracks.
As Millie listened, the pieces started falling into place. She glanced at Helga, searching her expression for any hint of what might happen next.
When the infamous slides first began circulating online earlier that day, Helga had been spending her time here at the spa. Her usual companions wasted no time tossing out snide, sarcastic comments. “So this Millie girl is the one your son Myron’s dating now? With Myron’s background, couldn’t he have his pick of anyone? Why get involved with someone like Millie? Wasn’t Millie with Brandon for a long time, and didn’t she have a kid? If Myron wants a serious relationship, he should be with a woman from a reputable family. Actually, I know a perfect candidate. I’ll invite her over, and you can see if she’s a better match for your son p>
