Chapter 973
Chapter 973:
Myron interjected, locking eyes with Millie. “You really think that’s going to happen p>
Myron’s steady, heartfelt gaze left Millie completely speechless.
A quiet sigh escaped Myron as he pulled Millie into his arms and then pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.
“If the day ever comes when we have to go our separate ways,” Myron murmured, “I want to know you’ll have enough to live comfortably. That matters to me p>
Looking up, Millie saw the honest worry etched in Myron’s eyes.
It struck her then that Myron wasn’t just saying it. He had truly thought this through, determined to make sure she’d be okay, no matter what happened between them in the future.
A wave of emotion welled up inside Millie, bringing tears to her eyes and making her nose sting as she struggled to find the right words.
“Don’t get me wrong.” With a playful smile, Myron reached out to tap her nose. “I want us to stay together for the rest of our lives. But I also can’t help but worry p>
Myron’s voice faded, the thought unfinished.
Millie didn’t need him to explain.
Something about seeing Helga that afternoon, and remembering the loss of Myron’s father, helped her understand what he left unsaid.
He was afraid of leaving her behind or of a future where her love for him might fade.
Even with those worries weighing on him, Myron still wished her a good life, no matter what.
Millie’s heart twisted with mixed emotions. Rising on her toes, she reached up and kissed him first.
Myron’s arms closed around her, pulling her closer as their kiss grew deeper. For a while, neither of them pulled back, lost in that moment together until they finally separated, out of breath.

Feeling a bit flustered, Millie dropped her gaze, her cheeks flushed.
“I really need some time to think this through,” Millie admitted softly.
“There’s no rush. I’ll wait as long as you need,” Myron murmured, his tone rough with longing he tried to keep hidden.
Although Millie noticed the change in his voice, she couldn’t forget where they were—alone in the study, not in the privacy of a bedroom.
Embarrassment lingered, making her hesitate.
“Wait,” Millie blurted out as a thought suddenly struck her. “Can I ask you something? Why isn’t your mom staying at the mansion p>
A small, sheepish smile tugged at Myron’s lips. Leaning in, he whispered in Millie’s ear, “She’s off with her new boyfriend p>
“What?” Millie blinked in confusion, looking completely lost for a moment. The bewildered expression on her face was so adorable that Myron couldn’t help but laugh.
He reached over and gently pulled her into his arms, lifting her up and setting her down on the edge of the table. Standing between her legs, he looked into her eyes with a playful smile dancing on his lips.
“You know, my father died when I was still young. I love my mother, and I couldn’t really expect her to spend the rest of her life completely alone, could I?” His voice was soft and understanding.
