Chapter 854
Chapter 854:
Slowly, Giffard turned around to look at Myron. His eyes had grown glassy with unshed tears.
Myron smiled warmly and reached out to pat Giffard’s shoulder in a gesture of friendship and understanding.
Then Myron moved to the coffee maker, poured another fresh cup of steaming coffee, and offered it to Giffard with both hands.
This time, Giffard reached out and accepted the cup from Myron without hesitation.
“Okay,” Giffard said simply, but the single word carried the weight of acceptance and peace.
The rich aroma of the coffee filled the air around them, warming the space between them.
As he drank, Giffard felt something inside his chest finally relax. The tight knot of longing and frustration that had been choking him for so long began to loosen.
On the other side of the room, Charles and Alexia had been talking louder than necessary on purpose as they kept glancing back at the two men, but now they exchanged a meaningful look. Both of them felt a wave of relief wash over them. Alexia had especially been dreading this moment.
She’d been terrified of being caught between her best friend and her brother, afraid she might have to choose sides and lose someone important to her.
She couldn’t bear to lose either one of them.
Thankfully, everything had worked out peacefully.
“How about I cook dinner for everyone tonight?” Giffard asked as he stood up, a genuine smile crossing his face for the first time in weeks.
“That sounds perfect,” Myron said with genuine warmth as he stood up. He gestured toward the kitchen, “Come on. I’ll show you where everything is p>
Alexia felt her shoulders relax. She turned to Charles with a mischievous grin. “So, tell me about these mysterious women you’ve been meeting. Anyone special catch your attention p>
Charles groaned and rolled his eyes dramatically. “Slow down there. I’m just getting to know people right now, taking things one step at a time.” He paused, and then shot her a smirk. “But what about you and Sheridan? You two seem pretty cozy lately p>
Alexia’s smile could have lit up the entire room, but she just shrugged playfully without saying a word.
“That smile says everything,” Charles teased. “Should I start shopping for wedding gifts? Are we talking about bells and white dresses in the near future p>
“Not quite there yet,” Alexia laughed, her cheeks flushing slightly. “But things are definitely heading in the right direction p>
Charles nodded approvingly. They’d known each other since childhood, and seeing everyone finally finding their happiness felt like everything was falling into place the way it should.
“But listen, Charles,” Alexia said, pointing a finger at him with mock seriousness. “If you’re going to start dating someone new, you need to make sure your heart is completely free first. It wouldn’t be fair to lead someone on while you’re still carrying feelings for Millie p>
