Chapter 997
Chapter 997:
Guests leaned toward one another, buzzing over the latest turn of events.
Then, someone brought up the Watsons.
“I wonder what the Watson family thinks about Millie and Myron’s upcoming wedding p>
“I thought I saw Derek and Norma here earlier p>
“Are they still upstairs p>
“No, they left just a bit ago p>
“Really p>
“Yes, but Brandon is still around p>
“Brandon? Where exactly p>
“No clue. Maybe he already slipped out p>
In truth, Brandon and Babette had already taken the elevator to a quiet corner on the second floor.
No one noticed.
On the drive home, Derek sighed, glancing at his wife. “No wonder Millie had her assistant send us off. Do you think Brandon really has no chance p>
Norma shook her head, saying nothing.
Millie had done nothing wrong, and they had arrived uninvited. Their purpose was simple: to show that the Watsons weren’t small-minded and wouldn’t deliberately go after Brandon’s ex-wife. It was about saving face for the family.
They came expecting Millie to accept their presence. Yet Millie had politely sent them away before the wedding announcement, sparing them embarrassment. She hadn’t even mentioned them during her announcement, either.
That was more than considerate.

Millie and the Elliotts treating them politely was already more than what they could ask for.
Derek let out another helpless sigh. “If she really does revive the Bennett family p>
His voice trailed off as he gazed out the window, lost in thought.
Meanwhile, Millie and Myron reached the second floor of the banquet hall. Reporters weren’t allowed there — it was reserved for VIPs.
The moment they stepped up, they noticed Brandon and Babette in the corner. From across the room, Millie’s eyes met Brandon’s.
He sat in his wheelchair, brow furrowed, lips pressed tight, staring straight at her.
They held each other’s gaze — Millie calm, Brandon unreadable.
Below, the discussions carried on.
Then, Babette suddenly burst out. “What’s the meaning of this?” Her voice shook with rage. “Millie, how long have you even been divorced? And you’re already planning to marry again? Did you start p>
“Seeing Myron behind my cousin’s back even before you divorced? Did you leave him just to be with Myron p>
“Babette!” Brandon cut in sharply.
There weren’t many people upstairs, but they all turned and watched with interest. Charles, Alexia, and others began walking over. Napier stayed seated, studying the scene with a smile. But Babette kept glaring at Millie, her anger boiling over.
