Chapter 1007
Chapter 1007:
“Don’t you dare call me that again! Millie, I am not your mother!” Nicole screamed, flinging a bowl that hit Millie square on the shoulder.
Back in her room, Millie pressed a hand to the spot, gazing at herself in the mirror.
Her face was bare, the bruise long gone, but the painful memories still lingered. She remembered a time when Nicole’s love was real, but now bitterness seemed to fill whatever space was left between them. No matter how many years passed, the air between them stayed heavy with old wounds, even though they were mother and daughter.
Looking back, Millie sometimes couldn’t stop thinking that maybe her mother was right — that things could have been better if Nicole had made a different choice back then.
Still, there was no use dwelling on the past.
Millie shook off those thoughts, peeked in on Ari to make sure she was asleep, and then slipped away to shower before settling into the bedroom.
She had already moved to share the master bedroom with Myron.
Myron, dressed in pajamas, was busy reading through a stack of paperwork at his desk.
As soon as she came in, he looked up and said, “The housekeeper told me they bumped into your mom while wrapping up the contract with Leda p>
Millie hesitated for a moment before giving him a quiet nod.
She took a seat next to Myron and glanced at the papers in front of him. Myron kept nothing from her, and the paperwork in front of him contained all the company’s information.
No matter how hectic things got at work, Myron always made time for family. Everyone in Crobert admired how united the Elliott siblings were, always putting each other first.
Even after Myron’s father passed away, their home stayed warm and close-knit, completely unlike the chaos Millie grew up in.

Maybe it all came down to the families they came from.
Years ago, the Bennett family was constantly under attack. It wasn’t some legendary dynasty; James fought on his own and everything depended on his talents, which was how he earned that genius reputation.
While her thoughts wandered, Millie started going through the paperwork she’d gathered.
“Doesn’t all this wear you out?” Myron asked, watching her.
Millie gave a slight shake of her head.
Earlier, she’d felt discouraged, but facing the long list of things left to do gave her a new sense of purpose.
Strength was the starting point for everything she hoped to accomplish.
Launching her new company meant she needed real influence behind her. If Millie wanted Nicole to believe she could truly provide for her, that too required power.
Ensuring both she and Ari had a comfortable life, and not adding to Myron’s worries, would require the same strength.
Myron might have offered his wealth and tried to put assets in her name, but relying on others just wasn’t her way.
