Chapter 1048
Chapter 1048:
Many of these employees had originally worked under James’ leadership years ago. As some had aged and retired over time, Millie had carefully recruited fresh talent to fill the gaps. This created an interesting mix of seasoned veterans and energetic newcomers spanning multiple generations.
“Millie!” Taylor spotted her boss immediately and hurried over, her expression a mixture of confusion and relief. “We suddenly received a huge delivery of supplies—snacks, drinks, everything. Did you arrange for all of that p>
Millie shook her head with an amused smile. “No. Myron brought everything. He’s actually here with us tonight p>
Only then did Taylor’s gaze shift to notice the man standing just behind Millie.
Myron offered her a warm, friendly smile.
Taylor’s eyes went comically wide with shock. “Wait, is that really Mr. Elliott? He looks like he could be a college student p>
She immediately slapped her hand over her mouth, cutting herself off mid-sentence. She’d been about to mention how she’d watched someone moving supplies earlier with a whole crew of helpers, and she’d assumed it was just some young intern. It turned out to be Myron himself the entire time.
Millie couldn’t help but laugh, reaching out to tap Taylor affectionately on the nose.
“So how’s everything progressing right now?” she asked as they walked together toward the main work stations.
Myron chose not to insert himself into the data review process. Instead, he found a comfortable spot to wait off to the side, staying out of everyone’s way.
“Okay, here’s what’s happening…” Taylor immediately shifted into professional mode, launching into a detailed explanation of their current situation and the challenges they were facing.
Millie began moving efficiently between different employees’ workstations, handling various urgent tasks and occasionally picking up her phone to make international calls.

In the whirlwind of activity and mounting pressure, she nearly forgot about Myron’s presence.
It wasn’t until roughly two hours had passed that she happened to glance up and spot him. He was still sitting patiently in the same chair, quietly reviewing some documents he’d brought along to keep himself occupied.
As if he possessed some sixth sense, Myron looked up at precisely that moment and met her eyes. He gave her a gentle, understanding nod.
Seeing that the immediate crisis seemed to be under control for the moment, Millie made her way to her private office. Myron rose from his seat and followed behind her without needing to be asked.
Once they were inside with the door pulled mostly closed for privacy, Millie sank onto the comfortable sofa.
“Why didn’t you call me over or say something?” she asked with genuine curiosity.
“You were completely absorbed in your work, and I didn’t want to break your concentration,” Myron explained simply.
He quietly retrieved a pair of soft slippers from where they were kept near her desk, then knelt down in front of her. With gentle care, he removed her stylish but uncomfortable high heels and carefully slipped the cushioned flats onto her tired feet.
