Chapter 1109
Chapter 1109:
Days crept by.
The next day, gold prices continued their steady climb. On the day after, there was a slight dip, but the market stayed firm.
By the third day, gold shot up again, breaking new records. On the morning of the third day, Taylor came into the office to update Millie on the latest developments.
Millie listened, gave a brief nod, and then walked out of the room. She looked around at her team and said calmly, “Withdraw the funds in stages. Be discreet, and make sure it doesn’t attract unnecessary attention p>
Someone frowned. “But the prices of gold might still climb. Are you sure it’s time to pull out p>
Millie smiled lightly. “This isn’t where our real focus lies p>
Everyone nodded in understanding and immediately set to work.
Meanwhile, Babette was falling apart.
Seeing gold prices soar while knowing Millie continued to profit made Babette seethe with rage.
The more she watched, the more her composure cracked. She picked up the phone on her desk.
The secretary rushed in, startled.
“Tell me the current state of my assets,” Babette said.
The secretary responded right away.
As a member of the Watson family, Babette naturally possessed considerable wealth. However, because she was deeply involved in multiple investments, much of her fortune was locked in long-term projects with limited liquidity. To make matters worse, she had recently channeled a large share of her available funds into the copper market, leaving her with very little ready cash she could easily use.
“Alright. You can leave,” Babette said curtly, waving a hand to dismiss the secretary.

She paused for a moment, then picked up her phone and dialed a number.
“Hey, Adalyn. It’s me. Can you lend me some money for a short while? Don’t worry; it’s just temporary. You trust me, don’t you p>
After hearing her friend’s response, Babette smiled faintly and said, “Thank you p>
But that was only the first call.
After making several calls in a row, Babette’s frustration only grew worse.
It was only because Brandon kept protecting Millie; otherwise, Babette could have easily tapped into Watson Group’s resources.
But Babette wasn’t one to accept defeat. She refused to watch Millie win.
By the fourth day, gold prices finally began to waver.
Babette’s screens showed her balances climbing again. Her copper trades were bouncing back, too, and the tight knot in her chest began to ease.
She had already formed a new strategy.
Gold had risen too fast, too soon. It was only a matter of time before a small disruption caused it to plunge. When that happened, she would strike, buying low and turning another profit.
Yes, this time she’d outplay Millie completely.
Babette was certain her judgment couldn’t possibly be wrong. With that thought in mind, after several days of pent-up frustration, Babette finally felt a flicker of happiness.
