Chapter 1495
After a moment of silence, someone brought up a new topic. “What do you think about Millie’s current situation?”
The tall colleague shook his head. “Hard to say. There are so many stories floating around,” he said with a shrug. “No one knows which ones are true.”
“Honestly, even though things are stable with Myron in charge, I still miss when Millie was here.”
A nostalgic smile tugged at the tall colleague’s lips. “Same here. Do you remember our early days here? She pushed us forward when everyone looked down on us, and we ended up shocking the whole field over and over. Those days were golden.”
“Back then, plenty of companies tried to poach me with generous offers.”
“Yeah. I actually thought she’d tell us we were a team and should always stick together, you know, things like that,” the tall colleague continued, taking another sip. “But she surprised us. She raised our salaries, gave us paid vacations, and handed out real bonuses. Those were concrete reasons to stay.”
The group nodded, smiling warmly at the memory.
“It’s a shame… no one knows when she’ll regain consciousness.”
“Yeah. What happened at the wedding was just…”
Their voices trailed off, and everyone sighed. Break time was nearly over, and they began preparing to return to work.
A sudden breeze swept through the room, followed by the soft click of the office door opening. Sensing movement, everyone turned toward the entrance.
Taylor stepped in with a bright smile, and a little girl hopped cheerfully beside her. Right behind them came a wheelchair, pushed carefully by Myron. Seated in it was a figure they all knew too well: Millie.
Sunlight poured through the windows, filling the office with a warm glow. The light touched Millie’s gentle, pale face, creating a scene that felt almost unreal.
For a moment, no one moved. They could only stare, stunned into silence.
Millie let out a soft smile. “What’s the matter? Have you all forgotten what I look like?”
A gentle breeze drifted through the office, stirring the leaves of the nearby plants.
“Miss Bennett!”
“Millie!”
“Miss Bennett, you’re awake… it’s unbelievable!”
The room overflowed with emotion. Several tried to hold back their tears, but their reddened eyes gave them away. The women, especially, couldn’t contain themselves any longer, their shoulders trembling as quiet sobs escaped them. They hurried toward her, forming a circle around the wheelchair.
“Millie, you’re finally awake. It’s been a whole year without you. We’ve missed you so much.”
“Yeah, Miss Bennett, we miss those days when we fought side by side.”
“Why are you in a wheelchair? How are you feeling now?”
Millie gazed at them, her own eyes shimmering with tears.
