Chapter 1508
Millie flipped through the documents again. She had already noticed it. The reason her father couldn’t crush the enemy was that they had been backed by a colossal force from Mirough. But over the years, that power had weakened, declining slowly, and now it was trying to rise again. They were recently teaming up with SKR, which happened to be the other of her father’s old adversaries.
Given the situation, the battle between MKK and SKR had one inevitable requirement: MKK must prevail.
“Millie,” Myron said carefully, “I think we might need to talk to Brandon.”
Though he disliked the idea, the weight of the current situation left him no choice.
Millie’s gaze lingered on Myron, her lips parted but no words coming out immediately.
“Millie, let’s be clear, it’s just a talk. I will not allow you to revisit past relationships!” Myron suddenly burst out, his voice sharp, edged with a possessive tension that hadn’t been there moments before.
Seriousness had shifted into something more urgent, more intimate. His sudden possessiveness caught Millie off guard. She blinked, then a soft chuckle escaped her lips.
“What’s so funny?” Myron’s brow furrowed, annoyance creeping into his tone. He grasped her hand more firmly, anchoring her gaze. “Millie, you’re my wife now. No one from your past can cross this threshold — not now, not ever!”
Once, simply being near her had sufficed. But now mere proximity wasn’t enough; he wanted all of her, completely, without compromise.
Millie laughed softly, the sound light and teasing, leaning slightly to the side in playful defiance.
“Millie!” Myron’s voice hardened, yet trembled with an intensity he could barely contain. Seeing her like this stirred a possessive fire within him. He reached out, gently but insistently, tilting her chin so her eyes met his.
“Did you hear what I said?” His words were low, possessive, and laden with unspoken emotion.
Millie burst out laughing, almost doubling over.
“You’re unbelievably overbearing,” she teased on purpose, her eyes sparkling.
Myron immediately hooked an arm around her waist, his voice low and sulky. “That’s right, I am overbearing. I worked my ass off to earn the title of your lawful husband, so don’t even think about stirring up old feelings with your ex.” His jaw tightened. “Otherwise, I’ll get ridiculously jealous.”
Amused by his obvious tension, Millie chuckled and leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
“What’s going on in that head of yours?” she whispered gently. “Ronnie, we’re married. Whatever you’re afraid of, it’s never going to happen.”
Her words loosened something in Myron. The stiffness left his shoulders, and the crease between his brows slowly smoothed away.
He lowered his head and kissed her forehead. “Anything else, Millie, I can compromise,” he murmured against her ear. “But not this.”
Resting against his chest, Millie listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat and felt every flicker of his emotion. This was the one line he would never allow anyone to cross, the only demand he had ever made without leaving room for discussion. Love, after all, was possessive by nature, fiercely exclusive. And she had no intention of stepping on his heart. Whatever she and Brandon had once shared had ended long ago. No matter how tangled or misunderstood the past had been, there was no turning back time.
