Chapter 1073
Chapter 1073:
“You’re truly remarkable p>
The meeting room was in chaos. Foley couldn’t reveal his earlier conversation with Millie, so he kept insisting it was all a misunderstanding. But no one listened.
He felt like a man walking on broken glass—every step painful.
Only two people sat still amid the uproar: Millie and Charles. Charles didn’t fully understand what was happening, but he trusted Millie completely.
Babette zipped up her bag and smiled at Millie.
“What a pity, Millie! You’ve already signed the contract. What now? Planning to break it?” she asked mockingly, laughing as if victory were hers.
Millie simply smiled faintly, saying nothing.
Babette scoffed to herself, thinking, “Let’s see how long you can keep that calm face p>
She turned to Foley. “Mr. Carter, I have some good news for you p>
By now, Foley had had enough. He could clearly see that Babette and Reuben had been working together from the start—pretending to invest just to drag things out and expose his weaknesses when it mattered most. They had never intended to fund the project at all.
Foley glared at her, too angry to speak.
Babette raised her voice so everyone could hear. “Your new major investor here,” she said, pointing straight at Millie, “borrowed all her investment funds. If she can’t repay them in time, she’ll be ruined p>
With a laugh, she swept out of the room, her heels clicking like a victory march.
Everyone turned to Millie. But she stayed calm, her face unreadable, eyes steady and distant.
Reuben rose next, smirking. “Charles, this is what happens when you jump in to protect a woman. I did warn you p>

Charles rolled his eyes.
Reuben snorted and left.
The remaining investors whispered among themselves and soon followed, leaving only Millie, Charles, their assistants, and Foley behind.
Foley looked uneasy. “Miss Bennett, Mr. Evans… you’re not thinking of backing out, are you p>
“Relax. Everything’s fine,” Millie said calmly, motioning for Taylor to close the door.
She turned back to Foley. “The problem’s already solved. Giffard found out about that new medical breakthrough during the seminar in Flaville p>
She nodded at Charles and then turned back to Foley. “The transfer to Flaville has been arranged. The surgery will begin as soon as possible p>
Foley sighed in relief, sinking into his chair.
“I really hope it goes well,” he said.
Millie smiled softly.
“Your friend will appreciate what you’ve done. I hope your bond grows even stronger after this. After all…” She gave him a meaningful look. “We’re all in this together now p>
Foley chuckled and nodded. “Indeed. And don’t worry, our tech is solid. I promise your shares will grow many times over p>
Millie reached out her hand, and Foley shook it. Charles joined in with a grin.
