Chapter 1127
Chapter 1127:
They sat together in the backseat as the car carried them home. Millie leaned against the seat and watched the scenery slide past the window. Her thoughts wandered back to her father. She remembered the lessons he had taught her—the ones that shaped her into who she was.
She hadn’t even absorbed a fraction of his wisdom, yet his influence had never faded.
Back then, she had been so young. Both she and her father had believed they had all the time in the world, but life had proved them wrong.
“Myron, I want to visit the cemetery,” Millie said quietly.
“Alright,” Myron replied, giving the driver new directions.
By the time they arrived, night had already fallen.
Millie walked ahead while Myron stayed back, giving her the space she needed. He stopped by a small flower stall nearby, knowing she would want a moment alone with her father.
Millie stood before her father’s grave, brushing away a few fallen leaves. Her gaze lingered on the photograph of James etched into the headstone, and her eyes began to glisten.
She had visited countless times over the years—whenever the ache of missing him grew too strong.
Looking at his smiling face felt as if he were still there, smiling just for her.
“Dad, if you were still here, I wonder what life would be like,” Millie whispered.
“Lately, I’ve been thinking about the past a lot.” She smiled faintly through her tears, wiping them away with the back of her hand. “When I was younger, I used to complain about the heavy workload you gave me. But now I realize it was your way of preparing me for the future. I’ve started JM Investments. I want to restore the Bennett family’s glory. You’d support me like you always did, wouldn’t you p>
A soft breeze drifted across the grave, lifting strands of Millie’s hair. It felt like the same gentle warmth she remembered from her father’s hand when he used to pat her head and comfort her. She spoke to him quietly for a long time. Myron had already returned with the flowers but waited at a distance, patient and understanding.

When Millie finally stood, Myron approached and handed her the bouquet.
No words were exchanged—none were needed. Millie knew what he meant. She knelt and placed the flowers in front of the tombstone.
“By the way, Dad,” she said softly, “I told you I divorced Brandon. And now… there’s someone new p>
She reached for Myron’s hand and looked up at her father’s photograph. “This is Myron. You knew him. Dad, we’re getting married p>
Myron gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, his gaze steady on the headstone. “I’ll take care of Millie, Mr. Bennett,” he said quietly. “And I’ll help her uncover the truth from all those years ago. You can rest easy p>
They stood together in silence for a moment longer before turning to leave.
A short walk brought them to the graves of Millie’s two lost children.
Someone had been there recently; fresh flowers and small offerings showed it clearly.
Millie lowered her gaze, already knowing who it was. She didn’t comment on it, instead taking the flowers and toys Myron handed her.
“Kids, this is Myron,” she said gently.
Myron knelt beside her, placing the flowers and toys before the headstones. “I’m Myron. It’s good to meet you,” he murmured.
After a quiet moment of remembrance, they both rose to their feet.
Millie brushed her fingers lightly over the carved headstones.
“Let’s go home,” she said softly.
