Chapter 1133
Chapter 1133:
“Excuse me for a moment. I need to use the restroom,” he said finally.
No one objected; after so many drinks, it seemed only natural to feel lightheaded.
Once inside the men’s room, Charles hurried into a stall and forced himself to vomit, emptying his stomach and clearing his head. In his world—business and family politics alike—staying alert was the difference between winning and being played. He washed his face and left the restroom, moving with a wobble.
Just as he turned the corner, he noticed someone standing there, waiting.
Feigning drunkenness, he staggered closer and then recognized the woman.
“You?” Charles blurted out, his eyes widening in surprise. Wasn’t this Anika, the Stewart family’s famously well-mannered heiress? What on earth was she doing here?
Anika handed him a small carton of milk along with a pack of hangover pills.
“I’m here with friends,” she said.
“I saw you rush out to the men’s room earlier, so I thought you might need these.” She gestured toward what she’d given him.
“Drink the milk, take the pills here, and hand the bag back to me afterward. They don’t have to know p>
The milk carton was disguised beneath a layer of plain wrapping, its true contents concealed from anyone who might be watching. Thumping music filled the whole club, drowning out any stray conversation and granting the pair privacy for their exchange.
If Charles had accepted the package from anyone else, curious eyes would have demanded a peek—there was no hiding things in this crowd. But with Anika as the courier, the dynamic shifted entirely.
After all, Anika was no ordinary woman; she was the Stewart family’s heiress.
Wasting no time, Charles swallowed the medication with the milk and handed the empty box back to Anika.
“Why did you decide to help me?” he asked, brow raised.
Rolling her eyes at Charles, Anika replied, “Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m not doing this for you. I’m simply looking out for Millie.” Charles and Millie were both entangled in the same mess, after all.

Honestly, Anika hadn’t gone out of her way to find Charles; it was pure coincidence to run into him here tonight. She simply didn’t want his temper, fueled by too much booze, to slip and make things harder on Millie.
“Ah, makes sense now…” Charles rubbed the back of his head, flashing an awkward smile.
Anika was already packing up.
“You can go back inside. I’m going back to my friends too p>
With a simple nod, Charles turned and walked back into the party.
A group of friends greeted him with eager faces.
“We just saw you talking to Anika. What was that about p>
Brushing it off, Charles waved a hand.
“She was lecturing me again. She’s never liked me and even hit me with one of her signature dirty looks.” That got a round of laughter.
Anika’s reputation was spotless—she was the classic honor student, always polite and perfectly put together. Her upbringing kept her firmly in society’s good graces. Charles, on the other hand, was a far cry from Anika’s polished ways, so it was hardly surprising that she wasn’t his biggest fan.
On top of that, people who had been sneaking outside earlier had indeed seen Anika glaring at Charles.
