Chapter 1473
He sighed softly. “Alexia was so mean to me. She said you talked all night at her room and would probably be upset because of your lack of sleep, so I needed to be ready.”
He chuckled.
Thinking back, every bit of tension back then had been wrapped in joy. But later, everything changed.
“Thankfully, the day itself went smoothly,” he said as he watched the scene where she accepted him, tears glistening beneath his eyes.
Aerial shots showed the long convoy escorting her to his home, the entire city glowing with lights and celebration, highlighting how significant that day was.
He had planned every detail with care.
Later, they made their way to the banquet hall for their wedding reception. Although Brandon caused a sudden disruption, everything else went smoothly.
The wedding march filled the room as the recording played. She advanced toward him in her gown, step by step.
He still remembered how violently his heart pounded when the door opened and he saw her in that wedding dress. She had been breathtaking. He had felt blessed, as if life had handed him a miracle.
They vowed to share their lives. They said “I do” and sealed their promise.
“Millie, you don’t know how anxious I was waiting for your reply,” Myron murmured. “My palms were sweating so badly. I wiped them in secret because I didn’t want you to notice.”
They exchanged rings and kissed. Guests clapped and cheered.
The projection stopped at that image, freezing on their kiss.
After that moment came the tragedy.
Myron lowered his gaze. He held her hand tightly.
The wedding march continued playing softly around them. It felt as if the happiness from that day still lingered.
But then Myron looked at Millie again. The sunlight filtering through the curtains showed it was nearing noon. They had watched the video for a long while.
Myron opened the curtains fully, letting the warm light spill across the room.
She remained still, showing no hint of waking.
He reached into a drawer and took out a small box. Inside was her wedding ring, glittering in the sun.
He had always worn his. Hers remained here.
He lifted the delicate ring and, just like he had one year ago, slipped it gently onto her finger.
The bright jewel wrapped her slender hand in quiet elegance.
He bent down and pressed a soft kiss onto her forehead.
“Millie…” he whispered, voice breaking as he lifted her head and held her close, tears slipping silently.
It felt as though she had been wandering in a dream for ages.
Millie sensed herself moving through endless darkness. Thorns closed in around her, blocking any clear path. Voices reached her from afar, calling to her, yet she couldn’t find where they came from.
She had no idea where she was. Even her memories seemed scattered. She felt lost in the darkness.
