Chapter 1506
Millie finally lifted her head, meeting the depth of his dark gaze. Alexia had shared every detail of Myron’s efforts during the days she had lain unconscious: how he had tended to every lingering task she had left behind, how he had prayed at East Mountain, how he had carried her burdens in her absence. She had always felt his love, even when she could not see it.
Now, facing him fully awake, fully present, Millie whispered with a softness that trembled yet held conviction. “Now, you still have a chance to walk away unscathed.”
Myron smiled gently, his hands cradling Millie’s face with a tenderness that made her heart flutter. “Millie, I will never leave you,” he whispered.
After years of waiting, the moment had finally come, and he would not allow it to slip through his fingers.
“We promised to be together for a lifetime.” His gaze held hers, unwavering and resolute. “Millie, you must keep your word.”
Millie looked deep into Myron’s dark, steady eyes, a small, knowing smile forming on her lips.
“Are you afraid?” she asked softly.
“Not at all,” he replied, a quiet certainty underpinning his voice. “I’ve known this day would come for a long time.”
From the instant he had taken the blue diamond necklace from her hands, the course of their lives had shifted. Without her, without the Bennett family’s quiet guidance back then, he might have faced an uncertain and perilous fate. His mother and siblings would have been left vulnerable, unsure of what tomorrow might bring. Everything he possessed now, every victory, every safeguard, had sprung from that pivotal year. He owed everything he had to her. His whole world belonged to her. And he loved her with a devotion that had only grown stronger with time.
Leaning in, Myron pressed his lips to hers, a gentle kiss that carried a promise, a resolve, and a lifetime of unspoken words.
Millie pulled back slightly, reached into her pocket, and handed him a sheet of paper.
Myron took it without hesitation; he knew exactly what it contained.
“Many years have passed,” Millie murmured, her voice soft, almost reverent. “Some people and forces may no longer exist. We need to investigate and see who remains.”
He nodded, the gesture steady, reassuring. “Don’t worry. Elliott Group has resources across the globe. We’ll uncover everything soon enough.”
Millie’s lips curved faintly. “I trust you.”
Myron lifted the cup from her hand, and as he did, his fingers brushed her hair, tucking a stray strand behind her ear. “You’ve had a long night. Rest for a while.” He set the cup down and helped her lie back. Sitting beside her, he watched her chest rise and fall, the soft rhythm of her breathing grounding him.
After a few slow blinks, Millie’s eyelids finally closed, surrendering to sleep.
Myron stayed a moment longer, listening until her breaths deepened into steady, even patterns. His eyes fell on the paper in his hand. With a careful, deliberate motion, he rose and made his way to his study, powered on his computer, and logged into the secure internal channel.
