Chapter 767
Xavier spotted Celeste in the distance.
He could tell Caleb had no interest in gossip, but he was convinced that even Caleb would be stunned if he heard the rumors involving Trevor and Celeste.
Looking toward Celeste, he leaned close to Caleb and whispered, “I bet you’d never guess who Mr. Fleming was having an affair with. It was actually…”
Before he could finish, Caleb had already noticed Celeste. He had heard what Xavier was about to say, but he truly wasn’t interested.
Without giving it another thought, he lightly patted Xavier on the shoulder. “That’s enough.”
Then he said to both Jorge and Xavier, “You two carry on. I’m going to say hello to Mr. Yoder and his companions.”
Xavier was left speechless. However, Caleb had already walked away.
Looking after him, Xavier said in surprise, “Caleb’s actually going over to greet Matthias? They don’t usually have any dealings with each other, do they?”
Jorge thought the same. “Maybe because Mr. Jennings and my father both think highly of Matthias… and Celeste.”
“That makes sense.”
Kieran noticed Caleb before anyone else did. He naturally understood why Caleb was coming over. His expression darkened, but he said nothing.
Caleb didn’t greet him either. His gaze naturally fell upon Celeste after he greeted Matthias. “It’s been a while. How have you been?”
“I’ve been well.”
“My father would like to invite you to dinner tomorrow. Are you free?”
Was it really Harold who invited her, or was Caleb simply using his father as an excuse?
Celeste replied, “I’m sorry. I already have plans for tomorrow. But if there’s another opportunity, I’d be happy to join you.”
“No problem.”
As they were talking, Harvey and Lilian arrived.
The moment Celeste saw them, the faint smile on her face disappeared. She quietly looked away.
Harvey looked at Celeste with mixed
emotions. Lilian, however, was no different from before. She merely glanced at Celeste before calmly withdrawing her gaze,
On the other side, Philip began chatting with Trevor after greeting his old friends.
Their conversation revolved around
Fleming Group’s current
development priorities and the latest
research breakthroughs from
Philip’s research institute.
Since the discussion centered on AI, Wynn naturally joined in and offered several of
her own insights.
Philip nodded. “Ms. Locket, you studied this field as well?”
“Yes.”
Smiling, Wynn talked about herself, mentioning the university she graduated with her doctorate and that her advisor was Cayden.
“I was in the audience when you gave a lecture at our university a few years ago.”
Philip genuinely hadn’t known much about Wynn’s background. So, he looked pleasantly surprised when he learned about her academic credentials and that she had studied under Cayden.
“So, you’re one of Professor Sweeney’s students. I haven’t been in touch with him
much these past few years, so I really wasn’t aware.”
Looking at Wynn, he added, “You look so young. I didn’t expect you’d already completed your doctorate.”
Philip’s assistant, Thomas Aldridge, who seemed much better informed about people’s backgrounds, chimed in from the side.
“I’ve heard Ms. Locket skipped several grades and entered university when she was around 13 or 14. She’s quite the child prodigy herself.”
Everyone present knew that Philip had also entered university at the age of 13 and had been hailed as a genius in his generation.
Philip nodded approvingly. “Very impressive.”
Then he turned to Trevor with a smile as he remarked, “You two make quite a good match.”
