Chapter 775

Before Jorge had time to think his thoughts through, Xavier suddenly said, “I heard that Ms. Locket is about to become Professor Lancaster’s student.”

Jorge’s attention snapped back immediately. “Really?”

“I just overheard it a moment ago. That Ms. Lackspur, who went on a blind date with Caleb before, and Ms. Locket’s cousin were talking about it.

“Apparently, Professor Lancaster had a private conversation with Ms. Locket not long ago and was very pleased with her. From what they’re saying, it’s basically a done deal.”

Just like Quentin, Xavier had noticed that Philip, Trevor, and Wynn had stepped away from the crowd to talk in private earlier. He just didn’t know what they were discussing.

Now, after hearing this, everything made sense.

Although Xavier wasn’t involved in the Al industry, he knew exactly what it meant to become Philip’s student.

He couldn’t help saying, “Ms. Locket’s really impressive. If she actually becomes Professor Lancaster’s student, her future is going to be incredibly bright.”

Jorge smiled as he looked toward Wynn. “I’m genuinely happy for her. She’s always exceptional.”

Meanwhile, Philip had been enthusiastically discussing one topic after another with Celeste since inviting her and Matthias over.

It was obvious how much attention he was paying to her.

Matthias noticed it too.

So, while Philip was chatting with someone else, he leaned closer and whispered to Celeste, “Is he trying to poach you?”

Celeste paused. “I think so.”

She had gotten the same impression.

Matthias was speechless.

In fact, they weren’t the only ones who had noticed. So had everyone else, including Wynn. The difference was that Wynn knew something the others didn’t.

Instead of trying to recruit Celeste, Philip seemed more interested in taking Celeste as his personal student.

That thought made her grip tighten around her wineglass. For a moment, she almost lost her balance.

But then, she remembered that Celeste was already Zachary’s student. So, there was no way Celeste would become Philip’s student as well.

That thought eased the pressure in her chest a little. Still…

They had been talking for so long now, and Philip’s attention had been focused almost entirely on Celeste. He had barely acknowledged Wynn.

Which meant that even if he had been satisfied with her earlier, even if he had intended to accept her as a student, compared to her he still clearly preferred Celeste.

Realizing that, she still couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable, even though she knew Celeste ultimately couldn’t take away her opportunity to study under Philip.

Philip had only just finished speaking with someone else when he turned around and saw Celeste and Matthias standing close together, quietly whispering to one another.

He sighed inwardly. Unable to resist, he murmured to Thomas, “They really do seem close.”

Thomas understood exactly what he meant. “They do.”

Even if the opportunities they could offer were enough to tempt Celeste, she would probably hesitate with Matthias there.

Wynn naturally noticed how close Celeste and Matthias appeared.

She’s never forgotten the subtle change in Trevor’s attitude toward Celeste over the past few months. Now seeing Celeste and Matthias together, she instinctively looked ar Trevor.

However, she found that his expression remained perfectly calm. He merely glanced at them once before looking away again just as he always had, showing not the slightest hint of concern.

She could tell he truly didn’t care about Celeste anymore and that he wasn’t just pretending.

Wynn stared at him for a moment, stunned. Then, a smile slowly spread across her face.

The knot that had been weighing on her heart since earlier finally loosened.
