Chapter 1470
“Mr. Watson, you feel the urge too, don’t you?” she murmured. “Why don’t you let me take care of you?”
Brandon’s jaw locked as he fought the drug burning through his veins. His eyes were red, and he glared at the woman dragging herself closer.
She kept trying to touch him.
In the next breath, Brandon seized her by the throat.
“Ah! Mr. Watson!” she shrieked, twisting in panic. “What are you doing? Let go!”
Brandon looked completely unhinged. His hand tightened, making her thrash desperately.
“Mr. Watson… Please… Let me go…” she gasped, struggling for air, kicking weakly as her breath thinned.
Brandon’s intense stare stayed fixed on her features.
This woman wasn’t Millie. She could never be Millie. No one could.
Tears blurred his vision as he spun the wheelchair around, pushed her out of the room, and locked the door behind her.
The woman coughed hard. Then she began hammering on the door.
“Mr. Watson, the drug is taking over! You need help! I can take care of you. Don’t fight it! Mr. Watson, open up!”
Ignoring her voice, Brandon forced himself across the room and wheeled himself straight into the bathroom.
He turned the shower on cold, letting the icy water crash down on him. The knocking echoed through the door, his fists curling in resistance.
He only wanted Millie. No imitation could ever satisfy him.
Except… Millie didn’t want him anymore.
His tears blended into the freezing water, hiding the pain carved across his face.
Brandon grabbed his phone and dialed Eugene.
“Eugene, there’s a woman inside my apartment. Get her out and find out who put her here. And send a doctor—I’ve been drugged.”
“On it,” Eugene snapped, rushing over with his team.
When they arrived, the woman was still pounding on the bedroom door. One glance and the resemblance to Millie was obvious—too obvious.
Eugene’s expression turned thunderous.
He growled, dragging her aside and ordering the others to keep watch. “You’ve got some nerve. Out of all the people to copy, you picked Millie? Didn’t you hear what happened last time someone tried that—had surgery to look like her, approached Myron, and ended up…”
He didn’t have to finish, and the woman trembled.
She had heard the story. Rumor said she’d been shipped overseas for more surgery, but the real details were whispered quietly.
The only detail everyone was sure about was Myron’s cold smile as he said, “If you enjoy going under the knife so much, let’s make it permanent.”
But she had brushed it off because the benefits she’d been promised sounded tempting. Besides, Myron was married to Millie, and Brandon had failed to win her back. So she had convinced herself she still had a chance with Brandon.
But now, fear crept under her skin.
