Eugene shoved her away and led the doctor toward Brandon’s room.

The doctor administered the antidote, and Brandon’s body gradually calmed. He no longer needed the cold shower.

After washing up, he changed into clean clothes. Then he rolled into the living area, watching the woman slumped across from him.

“Talk,” Brandon said quietly, the cold in his voice chilling. “Who sent you?”

The woman said nothing.

Brandon let out an icy laugh.

“Eugene, call Myron. Ask where he sent the last copycat. Tell him we’ve got another one here. Maybe they can keep each other company,” Brandon said in a cold voice.

The woman paled instantly. “Mr. Watson, please! I won’t do it again! I’ll talk—I’ll tell you everything!”

Brandon stared at her without a trace of emotion, waiting.

Soon, she spilled the truth.

A branch of the Watson family had arranged everything, sneaking her in during a routine cleaning to lure Brandon into a trap.

Brandon listened, a faint smirk forming.

He scoffed, “A substitute? Did they seriously think I’d be fooled? That one night with me would earn you anything—just because you painted your face to look like her?”

He straightened in his chair, disgusted. “Look at yourself. Do you really think you resemble her?”

In the dim light and heavy makeup, and through the haze of the drug, he might find her faintly similar to Millie—at a distance. But now, she looked nothing like Millie.

“And there is only one Millie.” Brandon lowered his gaze. “No one replaces her.”

Silence thickened the room.

Brandon turned toward the floor-to-ceiling window, his eyes drifting over Crobert’s glowing skyline.

He wondered if Myron had already taken Millie back to the hospital.

“Mr. Watson, what should we do with her?” Eugene asked.

“Return her to the people who paid for her,” Brandon replied coolly. “Ask them if they still want a partnership with us.”

“Understood.” Eugene hurried to carry out the order.

Within minutes, the apartment grew quiet again.

Brandon remained seated, unmoving.

The drug had completely faded, and instead of using his wheelchair, he leaned against the wall for support and slowly made his way back to the bedroom.

Eugene had also brought in the cleaners, and the room was spotless. The bed linens touched by the woman had been replaced.

Brandon lay alone on the bed. Once the drug’s haze disappeared, the emptiness sank deeper. Being by himself felt unbearably heavy tonight.

Meanwhile, Myron had already returned Millie to the hospital. He gently set her on the bed. Then he fetched warm water to clean her as usual.

A nurse stepped in at that moment as she knocked.
