Chapter 1476
The morning felt ordinary. Yet a few people remembered the date.
The cruise ship named after Millie sat quietly at the dock. Someone asked if it would sail today.
The answer was no.
“Today marks one year since its first voyage. It will remain here while they decide whether to hold a celebration… But probably not,” a staff member replied.
Everyone understood why not.
The ship’s maiden voyage had matched Millie and Myron’s wedding day. And on that same day, Millie had fallen into a coma.
What celebration could there be now?
The news stirred many emotions. Last year’s grand wedding still lingered in people’s minds.
Online conversations followed.
“It has already been a year.”
“Yes, and she still hasn’t woken up. No one knows if she ever will.”
“Even if she doesn’t, I doubt Myron would move on.”
“And Brandon… People say he walks with a limp now, and he has not spoken to anyone new.”
“If Millie never wakes up, what will become of them?”
No answers existed.
Outside Millie’s hospital room, Brandon had been sitting alone for a long time.
From the moment the wedding tape started playing that morning, he had not moved. He listened to the entire celebration. He stayed until the last echo faded.
A soft sound of crying drifted from the room, and Brandon lowered his gaze.
He seemed calm, yet his trembling fists and reddened eyes showed the truth he tried to hide.
Inside, Myron held Millie’s head, his heart tearing apart. Tears slid down his face, falling onto her skin.
“Millie…” He called her name, his voice cracked and filled with pain, repeating it again and again.
Outside, sunlight washed the world in peace. A breeze stirred the leaves, quiet and gentle. But inside the room, Myron felt nothing but grief.
“Millie, what am I going to do…”
The hurt spread through him.
Just then, the machine suddenly let out a sharp warning.
Myron stiffened, staring at the display. His heart pounded. Was something going wrong again, like last year?
The sound continued, piercing and urgent.
Myron panicked. He reached for the call button, but something made him pause.
Slowly, almost afraid to hope, he looked down at Millie.
Her eyes were open.
She was looking at him.
