Chapter 1481
Naturally, Crobert erupted in debate.
“What in the world is happening?”
“It feels like the city flipped upside down in seconds!”
“Everyone’s rushing somewhere. What are they all doing? I can’t stand the suspense!”
During all this uproar, every one of those people had gathered at the hospital.
They had seen Millie open her eyes, and now they sat in the lounge, unable to contain their emotions.
“She really woke up! I honestly thought I imagined it!”
“This is incredible. After such a long wait, we finally have hope!”
“Once she’s strong enough, I’m taking her out to celebrate properly!”
“How about dinner tonight? A little celebration first. I can book a place right now!” Charles offered with his usual enthusiasm.
“Let’s wait until we know she’s stable,” Alexia reminded him.
“Fine, no problem!” Charles quickly agreed.
Ari had already been bouncing around for ages, chanting with bright excitement, “Mom is awake! She is awake!”
Helga and Nicole held each other’s hands tightly, their eyes wet with relief.
“Myron endured so much. I’m glad he finally has this moment. Watching him these past months really hurt,” Charles said quietly.
Myron stepped into the lounge at that moment, closing the door behind him. He saw the group gathered together and gave them a soft smile, his emotions impossible to mask.
His attention shifted until his gaze met Brandon’s silent figure. The room fell completely still as everyone looked between the two men.
Egbert lifted his eyes toward Charles. In that single look, the two seemed to come to an understanding. Charles gathered the others, and the group followed him and Alexia, leaving the space for the two men alone.
Only Brandon and Myron remained.
Silence lingered heavily.
Eventually, Myron asked, “What do you intend to do from here?”
Brandon stared at the blank wall nearby.
“I honestly don’t know myself,” he answered quietly.
Myron sat, eyes lowered, speaking more to himself than to anyone. “I heard what happened at your place last night.”
Brandon nodded slightly.
Neither spoke for a long moment.
Then Brandon said, “When she’s stable enough, I…” He hesitated before continuing, “I want a private conversation with her.”
Myron lifted his head, and Brandon met his eyes.
“I’ll ask her what she wants,” Myron replied.
Brandon’s fingers curled slowly around the armrest of his wheelchair. At last, he nodded. “Alright.”
