Chapter 802

Before Celeste or Matthias could respond, Narcissa sneered at Celeste again.

“But, Ms. Rodriguez, justice is in the hearts of the people. No one’s going to believe your excuses anymore, so you might as well stop wasting your time. Wouldn’t it be better to preserve the last shred of dignity you have left?”

Celeste showed no reaction.

Matthias, however, smiled. “What a wonderful thing to say—’justice is in the hearts of the people.””

He then glanced toward Quentin on the stage. “The two of you have put on quite the righteous display, bravely standing up for your friend. I genuinely admire that. But do you know who I admire even more?”

His gaze shifted to Wynn. “Ms. Locket, from what I can see, one of them genuinely admires you, while the other genuinely considers you a friend. Yet you’ve deceived both of them. Doesn’t your conscience bother you at all?”

He paused, then chuckled. “Oh, that’s right. I forgot. You don’t have a conscience to begin with. After all, it’s hereditary.”

Wynn’s expression changed. But she paid no attention to Matthias. Her eyes remained fixed on Celeste, as though she were trying to confirm something.

Narcissa, Quentin, Jorge, and Miles all believed that, at this point, no matter how much Celeste tried to argue, public opinion could never turn in her favour. After all, the only witness who could testify on her behalf, Trevor, had already failed to “clear her name”.

They knew Celeste and Matthias wouldn’t simply give up and admit defeat. But Matthias’s words had completely caught them off guard.

Narcissa and Quentin’s expressions immediately turned cold.

Kieran, Beck, and Caleb all knew that the situation was currently extremely unfavourable for Celeste. So, when they heard Matthias speak like this, they were stunned as well. They didn’t expect him to say something like that either.

Before they could think it through, Narcissa couldn’t hold back any longer.

She sneered. “Mr. Yoder, I never expected a grown man like you to be so incapable

of distinguishing right from wrong. Not only that, you’re publicly hurling such vicious insults at a woman. You-”

“Hahahaha!”

Matthias burst out laughing. “Ms. Lackspur, vicious? Insults? Did I? I’m a very well- mannered person. How could I possibly do something like that?”

“You”

“I said she and her entire family have no conscience. That’s simply a fact.” “You!”

The moment those words left Matthias’s mouth, Wynn, Lilian, Harvey, and the others

all changed expressions. For some reason, they all instinctively looked toward Celeste.

Quentin and Jorge’s expressions changed as well.

Quentin gritted his teeth. “Matthias, you—”

Matthias cut him off before he could finish. “Mr. Yallop, Ms. Lackspur, Wynn told you

that Cel has bullied her and oppressed her at every turn, didn’t she?

“But did she ever tell you that she was actually born out of wedlock?

That her mother was the mista

who drove the legal wife out of the picture and eventually drove her insane before taking her place?”

The moment he said this, everyone around them fell silent.

Wynn and Lilian’s expressions changed drastically.

Narcissa, Quentin, and Jorge were stunned as well. They knew very little about Wynn’s family history. They had no idea whether what Matthias had just said was true.

Narcissa was the first to react. She gritted her teeth.

“Mr. Yoder Thave no idea whether what you’re saying is true or false We’re discussing what certain people have done, so why are you suddenly bringing this up 1st how you plan to twist the issue?

“Maybe you know you’re in the wrong, so you’re deliberately dragging out some

unrelated—or even completely fabricated-story to distract everyone!”

Matthias smiled. “That does sound a little unreasonable.”

But the smile disappeared almost instantly, replaced by a cold

expression. “However, what if I told you that the wife Ms. Locket’s

mother drove out of the picture and

eventually prove insane was Cels

biological mother?”

The moment those words fell, it was as though a bomb had exploded in the middle

of the banquet.

Everyone froze.

Not only Narcissa, Quentin, and Jorge, but even Miles, Beck, Kieran, and Caleb

were left completely stunned.
