“ Time flies . It’s almost been three years since you two got divorced . When I think . about it now , it would have been better if you hadn’t gotten married at all . I always said you weren’t suitable for each other . You’re bold and headstrong , not gentle or considerate , and you can’t even cook , ” Irene said .
Teresa’s smile faded as Irene continued , “ I originally wanted to match Yvonne with Jonathan , but she was so sensitive . She got depression at such a young age . ” She sighed .
She added , “ Poor Yvonne . She jumped into the river , and they still haven’t found her body . ”
Teresa sneered . “ I may not be gentle or considerate , but I never wronged your son during the two years we were married , and I owe him nothing . I paid for the renovations of the house in Luviston Estates and didn’t even take the house after the
divorce .
“ I was too lazy to go through a legal battle ; I just wanted to save some face for both of
“ You can find anyone to be your son’s wife , even a personal housekeeper to take care of him . So why are you telling me this ? Are you asking me to find one for him ? ”
Irene frowned . “ Look at you ! Every time someone says something , you have to snap back . I don’t know why Jonathan still holds on to you . It’s because of you that he hasn ‘ t gone on any dates . ”
Teresa retorted , “ Is it my fault if he doesn’t go on blind dates ? What does that have to
do with me ?
Irene said , “ If you hadn’t kept bothering him , do you think he would have gone on those . blind dates ? You say you don’t owe him anything , but you’ve been married for two years and haven’t even had a kid ! ”
Teresa was almost laughing her head off , “ You’re hilarious ! A few years ago , when your son was advancing in his career , you told us to wait on having kids . Then , you said I shouldn’t stand in the way of his career .
“ Fine , I divorced him . I’m not the Lynn family’s daughter – in – law anymore . Everything’s just how you wanted it . Your son is doing great now , making lots of money , bought you a big mansion . What more could you want ? ”
She thought , ‘ She’s really greedy ! Now that her son is successful , she wants him to have a perfect family and a bunch of kids , too ? Dream on ! ”

Anyway , Teresa was not going to show Irene any kindness now .
She was no longer the Lynn family’s daughter – in – law . When she was married , she could tolerate it , pretend , and listen . But now ? No way .

Irene pointed at Teresa . “ Anyway , now that you’ve been divorced for so long , don’t keep bothering Jonathan . Only then can he relax and get to know other women properly ! ”
“ All right . ” Teresa pulled out her phone and , right in front of Irene , suddenly made a call . Irene asked , “ Who are you calling ? ”
After the call connected , Jonathan’s voice came through . Teresa said , “ Your mom met with me and told me not to bother you , From now on , don’t call me , and I won’t call you . Let’s not contact each other at all . That’s it . ”
With that , Teresa promptly hung up the phone .
She then turned to Irene and asked , “ Mrs. Lynn , is this okay now ? ”
Irene finally reacted , angrily standing up and pointing at Teresa . “ How could you call Jonathan directly ? What do you think this makes him think of me ? ”
Teresa found this amusing . “ The ex – mother – in – law coming to see the ex – daughter – in- law alone , and you’re afraid your son will find out ? I’ve never seen someone so hypocritical . ”
“ You- ” Irene was truly infuriated . In a burst of impulse , she raised her hand , ready to slap Teresa , but suddenly , a hand grabbed her wrist before Teresa could make a move .
Teresa looked over and was momentarily stunned . She called out , “ Mom . ”
