The girl sniffled and said , “ Ms. Johnston , please take care of yourself . You’re such a wonderful person . I hope this guy treats your well !
“ Don’t worry , he’s really good to me . ”
“ Then , Ms. Johnston , can you tell me where you’re going ? When I go to college , I want to go to the same place as you , I really like you ”
“ I’m in Nareigh , ” Teresa replied , though she wasn’t sure if she’d actually go back . She wasn’t ready to face Jennifer . Snapping back to the moment , she added , “ There are lots of great universities in Nareigh . You’re always welcome to come . ”
The girl nodded and gave Teresa a tight hug .
Before leaving , Teresa reported Lysander to the police . As she lowered her head , she couldn’t help feeling a little lost . She’d sworn to Jonathan that she was doing great , but honestly , she hadn’t felt this out of place since her days in Nareigh .
Jonathan felt a sharp pang in his chest . “ I just can’t stand seeing you all alone in a strange city , with no one to lean on . It’s like there’s no one left to have your back , ” he said quietly .
“ Who do I even have behind me ? ” Teresa asked softly .
“ There are plenty of people , ” Jonathan replied . But when it came down to it , there weren’t many she could really count on .
He shot her a look . “ At least , you can count on me . ”
The next second , his phone started ringing . He glanced at the caller ID , frowned , but didn’t answer right away . Instead , he turned to Teresa and said , “ The Porsche is ready for you . Go take it for a spin . ”
“ I’ll transfer you the money , ” Teresa offered .
“ No need . Just think of it as payment for taking care of me last night ,” Jonathan said with a smirk .
The memory made Teresa blush . Her lips were still red . There wasn’t anyone else around , but she still had her pride . She couldn’t help but want to give
him a good smack .
“ Hey , take it easy ! I’m still sore , ” Jonathan protested , tugging his collar down to show off the scratch marks on his collarbone . “ Your handiwork , by the
way . ”
Teresa’s face turned even redder . “ You’re one to talk . I’ve got plenty of your marks too , ” she muttered , though she wasn’t about to show them off in
public .
“ I’ve got something to take care of . You go test drive the car , and if everything’s fine , I’ll have my driver take Mike where he needs to go , ” Jonathan said , already shifting back into business mode .
Michael had been staying at the hotel lately . The staff took care of all his meals . There was a huge TV he could watch for free , and he’d been living a good life these past few days .
Jonathan had been with Teresa these last couple of days , so he hadn’t had time to check in on Michael .
Teresa’s eyes flashed . “ I’ll go pick up the kid myself . My friend is still in Jarisburg with Christian’s mom at the hospital . No idea when she’ll be back . ”
“ I’ll have the driver take you two home , ” Jonathan said , heading out first .
Teresa thought to herself , ‘ Good , it’s better this way . ‘
Jonathan went to the hospital .
Lysander ended up with a serious injury and now he was threatening to sue Jonathan .

Jonathan just said coolly , “ Go ahead . You tried to drug my woman . The only reason you’re still breathing is because I went easy on you ‘
Lysander tried to act tough , but every word made him cough and whistle through his broken teeth . “ Any woman i take a liking to should count hersel lucky . Everyone in Everport knows me . You dare lay a hand on me ? You’ll pay for it . ”
