Chapter 190

“ Look at you , all worked up . What’s going on in that head of yours ? If you like her , just go for it . I know Mirian likes you ,
anyway
“ It’s not easy to find someone who genuinely likes you and treats you well , ” Teresa said with a teasing smile .
“ Teresa got a point , Jonathan chimed in , walking over with Michael in his arms . “ If money’s the issue , I’ll help you out – but only if you take the initiative .
Edward sighed , “ Fine , anyway , my ride’s here . Jonathan , Mrs. Lynn , I’m off . ”
Edward pushed his suitcase and left , but not before ruffling Michael’s hair . “ Let’s dance together again sometime , okay ? ” “ Bye – bye , Edward Michael waved enthusiastically before turning to Teresa , “ Ms. Johnston , why does Edward call you Mrs. Lynn ? ”
Teresa was momentarily at a loss for words , while Jonathan , curious to hear her explanation , stayed silent .
Frowning slightly Teresa said , “ It’s just a nickname college students use for pretty girls .”
Jonathan chuckled . “ That’s your explanation ? ”
“ What’s wrong with it ? It’s perfectly fine for a kid , Teresa retorted .
Just as Jonathan was about to say something more , the hairstylist approached . “ Sir , between you and your son , who’s getting their haircut first ? ”
Jonathan replied , “ Let the kid go first . ” While Michael was getting his hair washed , another seat opened up , so Jonathan went over to get his hair washed as well .
Meanwhile , a customer who had just finished his haircut shrugged on his jacket with a refreshed grin , Smiling at Teresa , he said , “ Miss , your husband’s right – your explanation doesn’t quite make sense . Just tell the kid it’s because you are married . ” Teresa gave a faint smile . “ Oh , no , you’ve got it wrong . He’s not my husband , and the kid’s not my son . ”
“ What ? ” The customer froze for a moment , then quickly apologized . “ Sorry about that . They just look so alike . I assumed- My bad . ”
The customer left in a hurry , leaving Teresa to awkwardly rub her nose .
‘ Forget it . Just pretend he’s not his son ,” she thought . “ No way am I explaining this in a barbershop . If this gets out , what will people think of me ? ‘ Teresa sighed and kept quiet .
Once the haircuts were done , Jonathan left the shop with Teresa and Michael .
“ How’s your mom doing ? Are you heading back to the hospital today ? ” Jonathan asked .
“ I’m not going to the hospital today . She’s fine now , ” Teresa replied , planning to take Michael straight home after the haircut . Jonathan held Michael , and as usual , the little guy started dozing off almost instantly Jonathan chuckled to himself . This kid really treats my arms like a pillow .
Seeing Michael getting sleepy , Jonathan gestured for Teresa to get in the car . “ Hop in . I take you both home . ”
“ Jonathan , a lot of people have been saying you and Michael look alike . What’s your take on that ? ” Noticing Michael was deeply asleep , Teresa asked cautiously .
“ What do you expect me to think ?” Jonathan replied flatly .
Jonathan’s gaze flicked to Teresa through the rearview mirror , his tone sharp . “ We’ve done the DNA test multiple times . The results are clear . He’s not mine . Facts are facts . But you ? Look at yourself . You’ve been pale for days . What’s going on ? ” “ It’s because my mom’s been in the hospital . I haven’t been able to get proper rest , ” Teresa muttered .
“ And the contraceptive pills you’ve been taking are helping .” Jonathan added , frowning as he finished her sentence Teresa pressed her lips together tightly . Whether I took them or not , only I know the truth ; she wondered .
Jonathan made a turn and continued , “Clear your schedule this weekend . I’ll take you to see a doctor by the coast .
“ Benny found someone reliable – a traditional medicine doctor whose family used to treat kings . He’ll check your pulse and prescribe some medicine to help you recover .”
“ I don’t need it ” Teresa started to protest .
“ I’m not asking . I’m telling you . I’ve already cleared my weekend , so make sure you do the same , Jonathan said firmly .
