Now , with his mom getting sick and needing care , Christian was stuck between a rock and a hard place . He was their only kid , and his mom really wanted him to move back to their hometown for good
She didn’t care about him achieving great success anymore . She just wanted him to settle down , get a stable job in their hometown , and start a family . That way , she could leave this world knowing he’d be okay .
Christian’s long stay away from Nareigh was because of two things : taking care offis mom after her surgery , and feeling stuck because of what she wanted .
He dreamed of making it in the big city , but his mom really wanted him back home to stay . He got why she felt that way- when parents got older , they were scared of being alone .
Christian tried to persuade his mother to move to Nareigh with him . However , she refused , saying she didn’t want to live in a high – rise and preferred staying in their hometown . Considering her health , Christian found himself caught in a dilemma .
As Sherry told the story , she let out a sigh . “ I’ve been there for him the whole time , trying to comfort him . I keep telling him to take it easy and not stress too much . Things will work out eventually ”
Miriam couldn’t help but remark , “ Sherry , Christian’s so lucky to have such a kind and understanding girlfriend like you . ”
Sherry smiled . “ I love Christian so much . We’re planning to get married this year , but we’ll wait until he’s sorted everything out at home before we officially tie the knot . ”
Teresa smiled warmly . “ I’m so happy for you two . ”
* Teresa , I really have to thank you . If it weren’t for you , I wouldn’t have met Christian . You’re our matchmaker , so you must sit at the center table during our wedding , Sherry said .
Teresa laughed and promised , saying , “ Of course , I’ll definitely be there for your wedding . ”
They chatted about everyday stuff and caught up on Teresa’s life . When Sherry found out that Teresa still hadn’t told Jonathan about Michael , she couldn’t help but be impressed by how well Teresa had kept it a secret .
On the way back to the city , Sherry also heard from Miriam that Teresa had an older sister . As for Teresa being pregnant again , only Jennifer and Teresa herself knew about it . No one else was in the loop .
“ Sherry , I’ve decided – I’m leaving Nareigh , ” Teresa said .
“ Wait , are you serious ? ” Sherry asked , her voice wavering between disbelief and amusement . “ I just got back , and now you ‘ re leaving ? Where are you off to ? ”
“ I’m planning to move abroad . I’ll need you and Miriam to help keep Teresouth Group running smoothly , Teresa said , her expression serious .
Realizing Teresa wasn’t joking , Sherry asked , “ What do you mean by leaving ? Is this just a trip , or are you not planning to come back ? ”
“ I might visit once or twice a year – or maybe not at all . I’m heading to Fernlandia . My mom has a house there , and she’s already moved in with my half – sister , ” Teresa explained .
“ What about Mike ? Is he going with you ? ” Sherry asked .
“ Absolutely . Wherever I go , he’s with me ,” Teresa said . “ Miriam , please get Sherry to handle the handover , alright ? ”
“ Miriam , just coordinate the handover with Sherry , okay ? ”
After that , Teresa turned and walked into the bathroom . She barely made it to the sink when a wave of nausea hit her .
Then her phone started buzzing like crazy , and the name on the screen made her stomach churn even more . She hesitated , but with the ringing going on and on , she finally gave in and answered .
Jennifer’s voice came through , sharp and demanding . “ Where are you ? Mike’s been home alone . Are you abandoning him or what ? ”
Teresa’s tone was curt and cold . “ I’m heading back .”
At Rosary Estates , Jennifer had been waiting for Teresa for over half an hour . The moment Teresa arrived , Jennifer snapped , “ What took you so long? ”

Jennifer stood there , not saying a word , just watching Teresa . After a while , she turned and walked back to her room , still not saying a thing . She bought breakfast for Michael on the way and dropped

him off at Miriam’s house . This time , Teresa didn’t waver She had made up her mind . She continued to ignore Jennifer

Jennifer , though , didn’t want things to stay this way . She started to wonder if she was being too controlling . But she just wanted what was best for Teresa . Suddenly , a nurse handed her a package .
Seeing the sender’s name , Jennifer realized it was from Teresa – a blanket Teresa had ordered for her a while back
Back when Evelyn hadn’t left the country yet , Teresa and Jennifer had moved out together Jennifer had mentioned she’d stay in the hospital dormitory , and Teresa , worried she’d be cold , had said . ‘ I’ll get a luxury cashmere blanket . It’s super warm . ”
“ You always buy branded stuff . I don’t need it ; I’m not cold . ” Jennifer had refused her
“ Don’t worry . I’ll have it sent directly to the hospital , Teresa had replied at the time .
Now , Jennifer finally got the package , which had been delayed for a few days . The blanket felt incredibly soft and thick , and it didn’t shed at all . These blankets from this brand cost at least 3 thousand dollars each .
As Jennifer’s fingers brushed against the soft cashmere , a wave of guilt and sadness hit her . The Mercedes she was driving was bought by Teresa . The cashmere sweater under her white coat was also from Teresa . Jennifer knew she’d never splurge on such pricey stuff herself .
Teresa had always been the big spender with family and friends . She’d never held back when it came to giving Jennifer whatever she needed . But now , their relationship was in shambles .
Jennifer’s pride was a stubborn thing . Teresa’s words had cut deep , like a knife . She wanted to see who could stay cold longer , who could hold their ground without flinching .
But when she looked at the package , something in her wavered . She hesitated for a moment , then decided to send Teresa a message , just to let her know she’d received it .
Teresa didn’t reply at all , leaving Jennifer feeling frustrated . ‘ Fine , Jennifer thought as she flipped her phone face down . ‘ What else does she expect from me ? I’ve done everything for her own good , and this is how she repays me ?
Jennifer figured a walk might help , so she headed downstairs to grab a coffee , hoping to clear her head . But then she spotted a familiar figure wandering the hospital halls . It was Benny , Teresa’s friend .
