Jonathan lowered his head once again . “ Reward me , considering how well I’ve behaved . ”
Teresa pushed him away in annoyance , still a bit uneasy . “ Promise me you won’t get me pregnant . We’ve been divorced for years . If I do , it will be on your conscience . You will go bankrupt right away . ”
Jonathan furrowed his brows . “ Who’s the one lacking a conscience ? You were the one who was drugged yesterday but I am still the one who has to consider your feelings . You don’t know how stifled I felt . ”
Teresa did not respond . She knew that in some ways , Jonathan was a principled man .
For instance , he would not plan for kids if divorce was inevitable . He would also hold off on having kids until financial stability was achieved , focusing on saving money first .
So , if it had not been for that event before their divorce , Teresa would not have gotten . pregnant with Michael .
She tricked Jonathan into thinking she took contraceptive pills and even bought them for him to see , so he believed she would not get pregnant . Otherwise , he would have suspected that Michael was his son .
The thought of keeping this secret from Jonathan , who often met with Michael , made . Teresa feel guilty . She could not imagine his reaction if he found out that Michael was
his son .
“ Just make sure I don’t get pregnant , alright ? If I do , I’ll have an abortion ! ” Teresa continued .
“ You’re so heartless . ” Jonathan did not understand why Teresa was so worried . He assured her he was not drunk and knew what he was doing last night . He would not get her pregnant .

After some rustling , Teresa got dressed , and it was already past two o’clock in the afternoon . So , Jonathan made pasta for them to share .
Teresa devoured the food . On one hand , she was really hungry , and on the other , Jonathan’s cooking was just too good that even a simple plate of pasta with bacon tasted great .
Jonathan handed her a napkin to clean her mouth , asking , “ What’s the hurry ? There’s no one here to take your food .
Teresa looked up . “ Honestly , if you ever quit being a CEO , you could become a cook , Your restaurant will flourish . ”
Jonathan chuckled . “ And what does that make you ? A female cook ?”
Teresa said , “ I’m so bad at cooking . How could I be a female cook ? ”
“ Isn’t the cook’s wife the female cook ? ” Jonathan stated .
Teresa choked . “ Who’s your wife ? We’ve been divorced for almost three years . ”
Jonathan decided not to banter with her anymore and simply said , “ Eat up . ”
One plate was not enough for Teresa , so she had a second helping . It had been such a long time since she had tasted pasta this delicious .
Teresa asked him . “ Did Simona really tamper with the drink yesterday ? ”
Jonathan replied , “ I’ve already sent the remaining wine to be tested . We’ll know soon if aphrodisiac was added . ”
Teresa pursed her lips . “ I wonder what would happen if you had drunk it yesterday
Jonathan suddenly laughed . “ Things would be the same , except you wouldn’t be sitting here . You would be stuck in bed for a few days . ”
Teresa was rendered speechless by his reply .
By the time she got home , it was already evening .
Miriam was speechless , checking the time . Then , she said , “ My dear , I’ve waited for you all day . You’re finally back . Are you giving up on your son and your home ? Is your ex – husband that irresistible ? ”
Noticing Michael in the room , Teresa quietly explained to Miriam about yesterday’s
events .
“ So , are you saying Simona tried to set up Jonathan by drugging the wine and bringing it to his house but Jonathan didn’t even go home and instead met her outside ? ” Miriam inquired .
“ Yeah , that was what happened , ” Teresa replied .
Miriam gasped . “ Luckily , you drank it ! What if Jonathan or his mom had ? If it was her , she would have to get intimate with an older man . ”
Teresa stated sarcastically , “ You’re truly my best friend . ”
Miriam did not want to engage in idle chat anymore . It was not even past January yet and she had some family matters to handle . She had to leave ..
Teresa was very grateful to Miriam for watching her kid , silently remembering this favor .
“ Mommy . ” Michael ran out of the room and hugged Teresa tightly . “ Why did you come back so late ? I thought you didn’t want me anymore .
