Benny stormed into Horizonlead Group , muttering under his breath , “ Damn it . This is crazy ” Then he came to Jonathan .
Last night , Benny went to a bar and ran into Donald , who looked miserable . When Benny asked what was wrong , Donald just kept his head down , gulping his drink . He clearly wasn’t used to drinking . Hiskward , desperate sips spoke volumes of heartbreak .
Benny noticed Donald’s thick hair . As Jonathan’s cousin , he was also blood – related to Jonathan . Benny had this weird habit . Whenever he saw hair , he just wanted to grab some .
Without hesitation , Benny yanked out a few strands of Donald’s hair . Donald let out a loud yelp , clutching his head . But Benny was already rushing out the door . At the entrance , he bumped into Donald’s sister , Cheryl , who had come to pick Donald up .
Benny nodded at Cheryl before leaving . He wanted to compare Donald’s hair to the strands he’d taken from Mike and run another DNA test . If Donald and Mike were related , it would connect Mike to the Lynn family . Benny felt sure his instincts were right .
The last time Benny visited Miriam’s place , Miriam and Sherry acted suspiciously , almost as if they were trying to cover something up . Benny was determined to confirm the DNA test results once and for all .
After struggling to find a parking spot , Benny finally managed to park and headed upstairs at the hospital . Just as he reached the floor , he felt a sudden grip on his thigh .
A masked woman clung to his leg , sobbing dramatically . “ I’m five months pregnant with your child ! You’re such a scumbag . Benny , shirking your responsibilities . You need to take responsibility ! ”
Benny blinked , completely dumbfounded . “ Who the heck are you ? ”
The woman replied , “ Sir , I’m your … ”
Benny groaned , rubbing his temples . “ Get up and talk like a human , will you ? Also , why don’t you take off your mask ? Let’s see what kind of lunatic I’m dealing with . ”
The woman stood up slowly and then slammed her head into his .
“ Jonathan , that woman’s head was made of steel . She knocked me out cold . My nose bled . When I came to , I was in a hospital bed , and the hair I just grabbed was gone ! Seriously , is this world completely nuts or what ? ” Benny groaned .
Jonathan just sat there , looking dead inside , his dark eyes filled with a lifeless emptiness . Benny’s rant was nothing more than background noise to him .
“ Yeah , Teresa has decided to leave Nareigh with her sister . She won’t be pursuing her career here anymore . You’ve been divorced for so long , and there’s been no reconciliation . It’s clear there’s no fate between you two . You should let it go , ” Benny said .
Jonathan’s mind kept replaying Miriam’s words over and over . He had reached out to Peter , hoping to set him up with Evelyn . He’d even pulled some strings to get Jennifer transferred to the Nareigh General Hospital with a promotion to associate senior rank .
He wanted to ask her if she could stay . But deep down , he knew he had no right to say such a thing .
“ Jonathan , are you even listening to me ? ” asked Benny .
Jonathan said , “ 300 thousand dollars , right ? Fine , I’ll send it over . ”
“ Do you think I care about money ? I did this for you . Seriously , don’t you trust my instincts ? I’ve always aced multiple- choice questions , even exams . I knew that kid looked like you , but you doubted me . Can’t you be more perceptive ? ”
Jonathan barely listened to Benny’s chatter . The more Benny talked , the more annoying his voice got . Jonathan didn’t care . Even if the kid looked like him , it didn’t matter . ‘ Teresa would never have my child , he thought bitterly .
As Benny’s chatter droned on , Jonathan let out a quiet sigh and finally snapped out of his thoughts . Calmly ened one of the drawers in his desk , pulled out a DNA test report , and handed it to Benny .
“ I personally collected my hair and the kid’s hair . The test is done . There’s no relation . Satisfied now ? ” said Jonathan . Benny took the report from Jonathan , his face Successfully unlocked ! port , issued by the Maternal and Child Health Hospital’s DNA testing center , clearly stated , “ Notogical mannship serveen the tested parties . ”
Pressing his lips together , Benny pulled out his phone . Before Jonathan could say another word , he transferred 300 thousand dollars . “ I’m a man of my word . A bet is a bet , and I lost fair and square . If the kid isn’t yours , then he isn’t . ”
Benny lost the bet with Jonathan , and it cost him a car . He was fuming .

“ Didn’t I already send you the money ? What now ? Benny snapped , irritation clear in his voice
Jonathan’s tone was calm but carried a sense of urgency . “ I need you to ask Miriam when Terese is leaving ? ”
Benny frowned , confused , “ Leaving ? What do you mean ? Where is Teresa going ? ”
Jonathan said , “ She’s leaving Nareigh . And before leaving , she replaced the entire management team at Teremouth Group
