Jonathan nodded . “ While I’m taking care of you , I’ll make sure Mike doesn’t feel left out or neglected .”
“ Alright , then that’s settled , ” Teresa said , feeling exhausted . There was absolutely no way she was moving in with Jonathan . If free ever saw Termsa living there , she definitely would think Teresa got pregnant on purpose just to trap Jonathan .
No matter what , this was Teresa’s house , and it was Jonathan who insisted on moving in . Even if Irene showed up , it would be Jonathan who was clinging to Teresa , not the other way around . Irene couldn’t blame Teresa for it .
Jonathan said , “ I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning , and we’ll take Mike back to the Lynn residence . We need to let my family know about him . ”
Teresa was taken aback . “ Why do I have to go ? ”
“ Grandpa called me several times today , insisting that I bring you and Mike back . Sooner or later , we have to face the family . We can keep the second baby under wraps for now , but we need to come clean about Mike first , ” Jonathan explained .
Teresa hesitated , “ I have to pick up Miriam from the airport tomorrow . She and Edward are flying back from Gorthany . ”
“ What time is their flight ? ” Jonathan asked .
“ It’s in the afternoon . I can’t remember the exact time , ” Teresa replied .
“ No problem . We’ll take Mike to see the family in the morning , and in the afternoon , I’ll drive you to the airport ,” Jonathan said .
As Teresa watched Jonathan’s car disappear down the road , her anxiety about tomorrow started to build . There was no dodging this . Sooner or later , she’d have to face it . Better to rip off the band – aid now and finally let Jonathan’s family know about Michael .
She was Michael’s mother . If she didn’t go , Hayden would be disappointed . Irene might say to Michael behind her back , maybe even trying to turn him against her . But if she did go , Irene would definitely shoot her some dirty looks .
After thinking it over , Teresa decided she had to go . She’d rather deal with frente’s eye rolls than let her son go to his dad’s place alone and face his fierce grandma by himself .
The next morning , Teresa woke up early . Just as she was about to start making breakfast , Jonathan showed up , his luggage already in tow . He even brought breakfast for her .
“ Don’t let anyone know you’re staying here , ” Teresa said .
“ Can you stop pushing me ? ” Jonathan’s voice was icy . “ You won’t let me say a word about anything . If you keep this up , I might just tie you up and haul you back to my place right now . ”
Teresa shot him a glare . “ If you try to force me , I’ll take the kids and disappear . You’ll never see us again . ”
Jonathan just laughed instead of getting angry , “ As long as we have kids – two of them now – we’re tied together for life . You could run to the ends of the earth and you still wouldn’t be able to shake me off . ”
Teresa was at a loss for words . She decided it wasn’t worth arguing with him anymore , so she got Michael up for breakfast , and then did her makeup . Teresa was a bundle of nerves on the way . She’d picked out a loose coat on purpose , and with it being fall , she was in long sleeves anyway .
She’d already come up with an excuse . If anyone noticed , she’d just blame it on a little weight gain . No way was she going to let herself get embarrassed today , or give Irene any more reasons to look down on her .
“ Mom , your hands are all sweaty , ” Michael said , holding onto Teresa’s hand as they got out of the car , looking up at her in confusion .
