Truman said , “ Our hospital is a private psychiatric hospital , and our director has . received quite a few gifts . Perhaps he received one from Jonathan , so I’m being kept at a distance from you
and wouldn’t have to invite you to meals . ”
Teresa was amused and laughed . “ You’re too imaginative . I’ll treat you to a meal another day . ”
“ Okay , it’s a deal , ” Truman said .
Teresa exchanged a few pleasantries with Truman before getting into the car . Cheryl stayed inside and asked Teresa who that man was .
“ He is my friend , ” Teresa replied .
“ Your friend looks quite refined . I wonder if he’s married and if he’d be willing to accept a girl who’s pregnant , Cheryl said .
Teresa was terribly amused . “ The child isn’t his , his wife is his , right ? You’re just trying anything out of desperation . Are you grabbing anyone you can ? ”
Cheryl sighed . “ I have no choice . I just want to find someone to marry quickly . It doesn ‘ 1 matter who it is . ”
Teresa told her not to think like that and suggested she go rest for now . She dropped Cheryl off at her place first , then drove back to Begonia Estates .
Miriam , after having the food she bought , mentioned that Michael was already asleep .” Why are you back so late ? ”
“ I was out with Cheryl taking care of some things , then I drove her back . ” Teresa did not reveal Cheryl’s secret , even to her best friend . She had promised to keep it confidential .
A while later , the doorbell rang , and Miriam went to answer it .
The person at the door hurriedly said he was Jonathan’s driver . Jonathan was drunk and downstairs , insisting on seeing Teresa .
Teresa heard this too . She had just taken off her cashmere coat but put it back on and went downstairs .
Jonathan leaned against the car , looking tall and attractive . The temperature in
Nareigh had dropped below freezing that night . Seeing Teresa’s figure , he clutched his phone tightly , his breath forming mist as he spoke .
“ You’re really ruthless , aren’t you ? I’ve waited more than a week for you to reach out , but you wouldn’t even give me a call ” Jonathan said

Teresa crossed her arms . “ Why would I call you when you’re on a business trip ? Besides , I blocked you , so I couldn’t even if I wanted to . ”
“ Unblock me , ” Jonathan said .

“ No way , ” Teresa said defiantly . “ Otherwise , Evelyn would keep saying that I’m clingy . I’ m not unblocking you , so she won’t come after me again . ”
Jonathan sneered , “ These are all excuses . You don’t love me at all , nor do you miss me . ”
Teresa did not bother to argue with him . She smelled the alcohol on him and said to Jonathan’s driver , “ Take your boss home . ”
She turned to leave , but suddenly a hand roughly wrapped around her waist , pulling her into his embrace . The next moment , with a strong effort , he lifted her up .
“ Are you crazy ? Jonathan , let me go- Teresa was already being carried by Jonathan and shoved into the car .
Then , Jonathan ordered the driver to drive off and head back to Luviston Estates . The
driver heeded his order .
Furious , Teresa kicked his leg . “ What’s wrong with you ? You came over drunk in the middle of the night , throwing a fit, acting self – righteous , and saying nonsense . Can’t you stop coming to find me ? ”
Jonathan held her shoulder , saying , “ If I don’t come to you , who should I go to ? I’ve been working like crazy because I crave your approval , but you treat me with such cold indifference , unwilling to even contact me first . Your pride matters , but mine doesn’t ? ”
After saying that , he took out a jewelry box from his pocket and stuffed it into her clothes disgruntedly .
“ I went to Shaville on a business trip and bought you the necklace you like . You say I care about my mom and not you , but when I buy her things , I just give her my card ,” Jonathan said .
“ Whenever I buy you a gift , I pick them out myself , worried you won’t like them . What else can I do ? I’ve never cared this much about anyone else . I just wish you would call me , but it’s always me coming to find you . It’s always like this , ” he added .
Teresa tightly clenched her fingers , holding back her tears as she turned her eyes . away . “ You’re drunk ! ”
The next moment , she felt a weight on her shoulder . Jonathan’s head rested on her shoulder . “ Let me lean on you for a while . ”
