Chapter 949

“How could you have nothing to say to each other? This is the perfect chance for you two to bond.

You can help my grandmother look after the left–behind children, help with cooking and laundry,” Jonathan said coldly.

With that, Jonathan turned his back on her, cold as ice, but Irene grabbed his arm tightly.

 “Jonathan, are you really going to be this heartless to your own mother? Is this how you treat me now?”

Jonathan’s tall, aloof figure radiated nothing but cold indifference.

He shook off Irene’s hand and stared at her coldly.

“It’s just a change of scenery. If you ever run out of food, I’ll have a helicopter deliver it to you.

It’s not like I’d let you suffer. When the New Year comes,

 I can have you and Grandma brought back to spend the holiday together.”

Irene felt ice creeping through her veins. It was only November 22nd,

 and there were still more than two months until the New Year.

 “That’s way too long. I won’t go!” Irene cried out, panic rising in her voice.

“I’ve already spoken to Grandma. You’re going to stay with her for two months.

End of story. There’s nothing to discuss today,” Jonathan said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

With that, he signaled to his bodyguards. “You two, get my mother in the car.”

“Yes, Mr. Lynn,” said

tard.

Irene was bawling and shouting, but Jonathan had steeled his heart.

No matter how much she howled and made a scene,

it was useless.

Jonathan knew perfectly well that if he let Irene stay any longer,

who knew how she’d end up holding him back again. He absolutely couldn’t let Teresa and the baby get hurt because of this ever again.

Irene’s cries and pleas caught the attention of Miriam and the others.

 Miriam and Benny stepped out of the next room and saw Irene being dragged into the car by several bodyguards.

Benny stepped forward. “Jonathan, where are you sending your mother?”

“I’m sending her to my grandma’s,” Jonathan replied.

“Oh my God,” Benny muttered.

He knew that Jonathan’s grandmother was a humble teacher who had been volunteering in a small town for years.

 He doubted Irene could survive that kind of tough life.

It was easy to get used to living in luxury, but going back to a hard life was a whole different story.

 After all these years of enjoying a good life, Irene couldn’t possibly handle roughing it now.

Miriam snapped, “What were you waiting for?

If you’d dealt with your mom sooner, none of this would have happened.

Teresa wouldn’t have had a premature birth. You should be grateful that Teresa was okay.”

Jonathan pressed his lips together, unable to say a word. He called out to Edward,

 “Come with me. We’re taking her to the airport. Let’s go.”

Edward went with Jonathan.

When Irene saw Edward getting into the car too, she started crying even harder.

 “Edward, look at Jonathan. He’s sending me to your grandma’s!”

“Irene, it’s really not so bad over there. The scenery is beautiful. Jonathan said if you ever need anything,

 he’ll make sure you get it. You won’t be missing out on anything,”

Edward tried to comfort her.

But Irene didn’t want to hear any of it. She pulled out a handkerchief and pressed it to her mouth.

 “Why is my life so hard? How could my son treat me this way?”

She acted like Jonathan was the one who’d really wronged her.

But to everyone else, it was obvious that Jonathan had already done more than enough as a dutiful and respectful son. No

matter how much Irene cried, Jonathan didn’t even flinch.

Once Irene had cried herself out, Jonathan said coolly,

 “If you’re feeling lonely, I can just pack up those male caregivers and send them along with you.

Or maybe I should have Heidi go keep you company instead.”

Edward frantically waved his hands like a rattle. “No, no, that’s really not necessary.

My mom’s perfectly fine at home.”

Irene’s wailing grew even louder, her cries echoing through the room. “Oh, just let me die! Why is my life so miserable?” she sobbed dramatically.
