Teresa couldn’t take it anymore and called him . “ He’s just Jennifer’s friend , not my boyfriend . We just had dinner , Jennifer is trying to play matchmake but I haven’t said yes . Why do you always jump to conclusions ? Do you really think I’d just date anyone ?
She heard a sharp intake of breath on the other end
Teresa’s heart tightened , “ What’s wrong ? Are you okay ? ”
“ My stomach hurts . Maybe you just pissed me off too much ,” Jonathan said .
“ You probably drank too much , ” Teresa said . “ Do you have any medicine at your place ! Or is there anyone there who can help you ? ”
“ I’m living alone at Strico Bay Heights . I’m just here for a few days on business . Who knew you’d make me this mad ? Maybe I’ll just let the pain kill me said Jonathan
Teresa was left speechless .
It was one in the morning , and there were no lakis around . Even if she could get one , she wouldn’t feel safe . So Teresa walked about two miles . Then she found a shared bike and followed the GPS the rest of the way .
By the time she got to Jonathan’s place , it was already past two
She was carrying a bag of medicine she’d picked up at a convenience store . “ Good thing it’s summer and not cold at night . If it were winter , I wouldn’t bother coming to save you . ”
“ I just made myself some gruel , feeling a lot better now . Why didn’t you tell me you were coming ? How did you even get here ? ” Jonathan asked ,
I walked part of the way and then took a shared bike . I didn’t feel safe taking a cab this late , ” said Teresa .
Jonathan stared hard at Teresa for a few seconds , something flickering in his eyes .
Teresa sighed . “ As long as you’re okay . I almost thought you were going to die here . ”
y here just to curse me ? ” Jonathan shot back .
“ you came all the way ?
“ I don’t have time to joke around with you . I’ve got an early business meeting tomorrow . Are you really alright now ? ” asked Teresa .
Just then , Jonathan’s stomach started acting up again . His gastroenteritis was flaring . Teresa grabbed his car keys and rushed him to the hospital
On the way , she still couldn’t figure out why he didn’t just hire a maid . Jonathan just said he didn’t like having strangers around .
She spent the whole night looking after him , eventually falling asleep with her head resting on the edge of his bed .
She was supposed to meet a client at nine , but when Teresa finally opened her eyes , it was already hall past nine .
She hurried to the meeting spot , but the client was already gone .
Teresa called the client . “ Mr. Frazier , this is Teresa Johnston from Teresouth Group …
“ Ms. Johnston , you don’t need to say anything . I don’t do business with people who stand me up . Let’s just end things here , ” said the muit
The line went dead , leaving only the busy tone in her ear .
Teresa’s face turned pale . She had gone through so much trouble getting here , only to find it was all in vain . The flights and accommodation cost a
