Jonathan never expected Irene to show up out of the blue.

Irene grabbed Teresa and shouted, “You’re not going anywhere. You’ve taken all my son’s money. Where do you think you’re going?”

Jonathan impatiently pulled Irene aside.

Irene fumed, “Yalena sent me proof that you’ve given all your company shares to Teresa, and now you’re just letting her leave? What on earth is going through your mind? You just believe whatever she says? Did you really not learn your lesson?”

Jonathan pulled Teresa’s hand away and told her, “Go board the plane. This has nothing to do with you, just go.” He had planned to leave with Teresa, but with Irene making a scene, he figured there was no need for him to go now.

The bodyguards escorted Teresa away. Jonathan and Benny tried to reason with Irene. But it was no use arguing with someone unreasonable. She turned away. It felt like she was holding her breath, unable to let it out.

Ever since she got pregnant, she’d had to put up with way too much crap. That was the only reason she’d put up with it for so long. But once this baby was born, she’d had enough of any of this.

Teresa disappeared from Jonathan’s sight. She was gone from Irene’s view too.

Irene, thinking Teresa had made off with the money, tried to run after her, but Jonathan snapped at her. “Have you lost your mind already?”

“That’s it,” Irene nearly broke down. “She ran off with your money!”

“I’m telling you for the last time. I let her go. Just try causing trouble again and see if you get a single cent from me!” Jonathan snapped. His face was as cold as ice as he turned and walked away.

“Ma’am, you really…” Benny started, but he just couldn’t find the words. “Why are you listening to an outsider? And that outsider is Jonathan’s enemy. You just believe whatever she says?” he pressed.

Irene finally calmed down, staring at Jonathan’s back. ‘So Yalena was lying to me all along?‘ she thought. ‘Did she set me up to go after Teresa on purpose?‘ She called Yalena right away.

Yalena’s voice was soft but laced with malice. “Ma’am, you didn’t go after Teresa? What a shame. Guess I’ll have to take care of it myself.”

“I should settle things with you first. You and your dad ganged up on Jonathan, and I actually trusted you!” Irene snapped.

“Hmph,” Yalena sneered. “Old hag, your son started this with me.”

“What did you just call me?” Irene was stunned.

Yalena dropped the act. “Listen up, old hag. If it wasn’t for marrying your son, do you really think I’d waste my time kissing up to you? Now your precious son and his wife are back together, and you all played me for a fool.

“Hmph. You’re nothing but a joke to me. Smiling at you all this time nearly made my face cramp.” Yalena didn’t give Irene a chance to curse her out. She hung up, clean and sharp.

Irene was so furious she could barely breathe.

Meanwhile, Teresa and Michael had safely arrived at the capital’s airport. Gary was there to pick them up, driving a Cullinan with Jarisburg plates, and they left the airport without a hitch.

The ride was smooth, and Gary immediately called Jonathan to give him an update. “Don’t worry, Jonathan. I’ll make sure Teresa and Mike get to the place you told me about safely.“.

“Good,” Jonathan replied. Honestly, now that Teresa and the kids were in Jarisburg, he felt about 70 to 80 percent relieved. But since he wasn’t there
