Ever since Kaiden started pretending to be disabled, his quality of life had drastically declined. For nearly ten years, countless people ridiculed him constantly for being unable to work. Enduring such emotional distress was not something an average person could handle.

She felt sorry that Kaiden had to pretend to be disabled for his mother’s sake. She felt sorry that he had a father who played favorites and a mother who disregarded her son for love. But more than anything else, she was sorry that he had to endure all of this and keep on sacrificing himself.

Kaiden’s heart skipped a beat, and a smile lit up his eyes. He was slightly stunned but couldn’t resist the urge to kiss Ellie’s lips. As their lips met, his heart raced even faster. This kiss was not motivated by lust. It was gentle and soothing.

He would not continue as a disabled person. After all, he couldn’t allow her to feel sorry for him all the time. Ever since they visited Jorge, Kaiden had been in a gloomy mood. But a few words from Ellie had lifted his spirits.

Due to how hard Kaiden and Ellie went at it the previous night, she fell asleep a short while later. Kaiden stared at Ellie’s sleeping face, a pleased smile on his face. The peaceful silence in the room was shattered by the ringing of his phone.

Afraid that the noise would wake Ellie up, Kaiden quickly picked up the phone and went to the balcony to answer it.

“Kaiden, I’ll be back on Friday. Are you free to pick me up?” It was Carole.

Kaiden was about to reply, but Carole continued, “I haven’t returned home in a long time. I want to pay homage to Leo. Can you take me there p>

“Yes p>

Kaiden couldn’t turn her down on this.

Kaiden frowned. He was talking about the homage thing. How did Carole automatically interpret that to mean that he would pick her up?

However, Kaiden found it difficult to explain what he really meant, nor could he refuse to help her since they had known each other for many years.

Anyway, he was only going to pick her up from the airport, and it wasn’t something to make a big deal out of.
